ONLY Rove has a PROFESSIONAL responsibility to do so. I disagree. He's as much a private citizen as you are. He's not employed by the Republicans and he sure isn't on the Tea Party Express' payroll. If he was, it would be different. I'd support firing him because he would have had a professional responsibility to the Repubs or TPE. As it is, he's a free agent like any other conservative, only higher profile.

A lawyer is a professional advocate. Whether he has a client or not it is unprofessional for him to make statements against the interests of former clients. A doctor is not free to disclose a former client's medical records, It is unprofessional.
If Rove is a professional politician, he is still one whether or not he has a client. It appears that you are entirely unaware of what it means to be a professional, as opposed to an employee.
