Many years ago, I recall watching a Charlie Rose show. His guests were some of the cast and crew of LOTR.
I vividly recall Viggo Mortensen wearing a “NO BLOOD FOR OIL” T-shirt. During the interview, he stated that Sauron represents America. I was livid.
I remember that and other sound bites from the cast.
Nothing can be done about it.
Viggo Mortensen just bothers me.
I loved in when in the Michael Douglas movie “A Perfect Murder” when Douglas’s character guts Mortensen’s character like a fish.
The John Rhys-Davies had been a leftist as a young man. he once went to heckle Thatcher, listened to her and became a conservative.
His father had been an engineer in the British Army and had been in Egypt, Middle East and probably N Africa. He talked about how he and his father would see dhows (sp?) the boats that sail in islamic areas including Africa engaging in slave trade with children.
His father would report it to the UN and nothing would happen. He said he actually saw Viggo Mortensen’s character as Bush in those movies and you can guess who Islam is.

I am known here to bitch about ALL TV being bad because of Saudi investors, joint venture partners with all six networks that own all the channels in the US. TV undermined Bush and the war on terror. ALL Of TV including the inane ball games can go to hell.

Liberal-leftosis affects the entertainment trade disproportionately. I’m convinced that it’s contagious, as well.
Perhaps that frame of mind explains the weakness of his performance in that movie. I've seen him in other movies and thought he did well, but to me, he just wasn't Aragorn. Maybe his heart wasn't in it.
Too bad Viggo never read The Lord of the Rings, or, if he did, the lessons in the books went right over his head. Sauron was a conglomerate of all the dictatorial enemies of the West (e.g. Stalin) and Mordor represented the USSR. The propaganda mouthed by Sauron's mouthpiece was straight out of the USSR playbook.
