The hospitals wouldn’t have any problem hiring people who are not Catholic, and wouldn’t even have a problem hiring someone who is homosexual; the EEOC already controls that as part of hiring regulations. My thought is that they are looking at Obamacare and seeing being forced to do sterilizations and abortions, at the threat of losing medical standing, or any Federal funding, at all.

No matter what your morals are you can't continue to provide charity services unless the congregation puts plenty of donations in the poor box. With medicare/medicadepayments being reduced, hospitals that are already running in the red have to do something. The slack isn't about to be picked up by the Church. Who suffers the most? The poor of course. Michelle was known to encourage drive by ambulance runs at Chicago University Hospital (or whatever it was) so why not make it a national policy. You better have plenty of Hope that you make it to an open hospital if you live in Scranton.
