And lots of ammo.
Ammo will be more useful as currency than gold, if things really get bad.

Got plenty of guns... it’s ammo that needs to be stockpiled.

We now have confirmed instances, including 911 calls, of banks hiring people to break into homes where the foreclosure has not yet taken place, and in some instances, they're breaking into the wrong house. That's illegal - until the bank has a court order giving them possession, they don't have possession and they have no right to be there. HOLY CRAP!
We're becoming Zimbabwe!

Buy lead to protect your gold and silver.

I posted on another thread: If gold is $4000/oz and bread is $4000/loaf, it still costs 1 oz. of gold for a loaf of bread. Someone replied that if bread was $4000/loaf then gold would be $500,000/oz. The point is this: If paper money is worthless then the gold you have in your vaults is also worthless, because nobody has cash to pay for it. You can’t eat gold. While I do have some precious metals, I have been focusing on stocking the emergency food supplies. Flame away!

Buy lead to protect your gold and silver.Modern alchemy.

I gave some “precious metals” advice to my nephew.
Buy metals in this order, as you can afford:
lead and brass in specific configurations,
silver for spending when the dollar is worth less than a sheet of toilet paper,
gold for preserving your wealth to “the other side” of the economic upheaval.

Actually, there SHOULDN’T BE a “legal right” to enter a home by breaking in,
without a court order/warrant to do so.
Even law enforcement should be required to KNOCK and present the warrant, and should not be able to do a dynamic entry. No, I don’t care about “preservation of evidence” as much as I care about preservation of private property.
Anyone shot breaking into a house deserves it.

But gold has never cost an ounce of gold, nor even an ounce of silver. Maybe if you changed your tale to 1/10th ounce of silver, it might make some economic sense.
When you begin with absurd premises, you arrive at absurd conclusions.

Gold is for wealth preservation.
Silver is for currency/spending/trade.
1 oz of silver will buy 10 loaves of bread, regardless of the “price”, in dollars, of each.
