I know that many conservatives routinely compare enviros to reds, but this is a false comparison. Environmentalism has far more affinity with National Socialism than it does with Communism precisely because fascism was based on nature, whereas Marxism is based on humanism. National Socialism was pantheistic, but Marxism was atheistic. When reds become green, they are in fact moving over to fascism. It is better to say that when you mix green with red, you get brown. Depends on what you mean by "environmentalism". Myself and MANY other FReepers are environmentalists without an ounce of socialism among us. It means we support economically viable (free market) solutions to environmental problems. It means I support clean coal over the idiocy of windmills. It means I prefer slant drilling under the great lakes to rigs on them. It means I don't throw trash in the lake or use lots of pesticides on my lawn or garden.
