On the night of the primary, Cong. Barney Frank (D-Newton) told Wicked Local that he was ready and willing to debate any candidate for the general election. And considering that Frank even debated Lyndon LaRouche candidate Rachel Brown in the primary it was easy to take him at his word.
I think debating is an obligation any candidate for office has, Frank said.
This release came this week from Franks GOP opponent Seat Bielat
DebateGate: Wheres Barney?
Newton, MA With just 32 days left until the mid-term election, Barney Frank has yet to confirm a single debate with his opponent Sean Bielat.
Barneys running away from his record, his votes, his previous statements, and now the debates, said Sean Bielat, the Marine and businessman challenging Rep. Frank. I have already agreed to several debates, but Barney keeps stalling. The people of the Fourth District deserve to hear from both of us at the same time.

Every little bit helps!!
Everybody knows Barney and most have made up their minds, particularly those who want him out. I don’t anyone new is going to fall in love with him between now and election day.
The debate would only cost him votes.
More popcorn, please.
Franks refusal to debate will make a GREAT campaign ad...Thanks for the 10 point jump in the polls Barney!
Heh, big mouth Barney always bragged that he’d debate anyone anywhere. Now he’s afraid to debate his opponent!
Big fat gay pervert fascist poverty-creating chicken.
Frank is a 14-term incumbent. 14 TERMS!!
That right there is more than reason enough to oust him. Of course, should someone need more, evidence abounds.
That is because a lying lisping homo like Bwarney would lose totally.
I am glad to see that Americans are starting to wake up and see the truth.
Truth is 100% of Democrats are criminals.
me too
Barney doesn’t want to debate because he is a pansy.
There’s no time like today to see the end of Barney Franks.
Me too. Dumping Frank would be really sweet.
Everybody, huh? Well then I guess his campaign should simply pack it up and go away, right?
NOT.
As someone who’d like to see change in my district let me ask that you do some research before you post negative comments about a race I feel very passionate about.
Many Unenrolled voters in this district still haven’t heard about Sean and that’s a fact. They assume it’s still business as usual with Frank having no real opponent.
Sean CAN do it.
Period.
Thank you!!
My guess is at some point he will have to debate Sean. If you get into the mechanics of a campaign, you will find it is a dance of negotiations coming down to the wire. Just my guess....
I agree with you on that.
If I were single-handedly responsible for causing the worst recession since the Great Depression, I would not want to debate, either.
Bawney won’t debate because he has a hard time understanding people who don’t lisp.
