And at the 14.2 trillion mark they will vote to raise it again. That is the current debt ceiling. And none of this takes into account unfunded liabilities. That is much more.

Haven’t looked at the ping, but as a Libertarian it hasn’t changed in forever - just End the Fed!!! Seriously, the fed is soooo fearful of deflation without ever seeing the good that comes from it. It brings prices back down to where the Free Market would dictate that they should be. But keeping deflation from happening is the same thing as inflation and has the net effect of destroying the currency. Labor isn’t cheap in other countries, it’s just that our dollar doesn’t buy much of it because our dollar is cheap.

Oh, it’s really easy to fathom and understand...

Take a loaded Lincoln Town Car - about $52,000. With me so far?

Now buy one every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of the year.

That’s about $1.64 trillion.

So just break it down to 1 Lincoln Town Car per second. See, a lot easier to understand! The 10 seconds it took to read this means you have 10 new Town Cars in your driveway!

Tip of the iceberg. When you add in the unfunded entitlements, state, local liabilities, Fannie and Freddie etc our total debt is on the order of 140 trillion dollars. There is NO WAY that can be paid. It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when the US defaults....

Roughly, $13.57 trillion. Unfortunately, we are going in the opposite direction.

no problem, just send a bill for

$45,000 to EACH man, woman and child in the USA, where
$21,000 is the per-capita income...

or

$112,500 bill to each USA household, where
$ 52,000 is the per-household income.

Let’s just hit “clear” and declare a restart. Declare it paid, forgiven, because of all the good things the US has done for other nations. If they don’t like it, we’re sincerely sorry.

It was zero then. The problem only really started on Inauguration Day, 2009. Before that we had a Republican president who maintained conservative fiscal policies which of course means that the budget was balanced.
