Need your help to make Stephen Colbert, Rep. Lofgren look bad (immigration)
Twitter petition to Colbert ^ | 9/22/10 | self

Posted on 09/23/2010 3:05:40 PM PDT by lonewacko_dot_com

Stephen Colbert has been pitching amnesty and illegal immigration lately, and on Friday he'll be on Capitol Hill (link) (presumably) promoting the AgJobs amnesty and the UFW's TakeOurJobs. The UFW promotes his appearance here.

If I can get some help, we might be able to make both Colbert and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (a former immigration lawyer) look bad.

Why is this important? Because Colbert has a megaphone, and he and Stewart are trusted by large numbers of people. And, most of those people aren't familiar with the details of immigration matters. This is also an example of very strong illegal immigration supporters (the UFW) getting establishment support outside their usual field.

What you can do about this is to help discredit Colbert *to his audience*. To do that, you make the simple point to as many people in his audience as possible that the UFW's TakeOurJobs is anti-American and pro-abuse. That link explains the argument and links to two other posts making a similar argument.

And, the things you can do from the link above:

1. Send a tweet to @StephenAtHome and let him know you support American workers and oppose worker abuse.

2. Do a search at Twitter for those promoting Colbert's plan, unwittingly or not. Send them the link above ( short version: http://24ahead.com/n/10221 ) and suggest they support American workers.

3. Post about this at Facebook.

4. Post about this at forums that are generally supportive of Colbert.

5. Leave a comment on this post I created at his forum.

6. Sign the Twitter petition here.

7. Tell your friends about this post and encourage them to get involved.

I hate to rain on your parade but this whole thing is one big publicity stunt for Colbert’s idiotic rally in Washington D.C.

Personally, I can’t wait to see clips of Colbert doing his standup schtick on Capitol Hill, it just sounds grotesque.

I really don’t see the American public bubbling over with sympathy for illegals right now. We can’t afford it.

Seems to me they are perfectly capable of doing that on their own.

He is a an actor and a Democrat.

Google for his BIO to learn more of why his upbringing made him pro open borders.

"Although by his own account he was not particularly political before joining the cast of The Daily Show, Colbert has described himself as a Democrat according to a 2004 interview.[77][78] In an interview at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard Institute of Politics, he stated that he has "no problems with Republicans, just Republican policies"

“Colbert’s idiotic rally”

I’m trying to think up a name for it. I’m stuck between,

Snark-fest

and

Snark-a-palooza

All the reports I read were that he was to be appearing “in character”. That means as a faux conservative. As I posted on another thread, that means this is an attempt to marginalize and ridicule those who oppose amnesty.

The whole idea of a comedian testifying in character is absurd. If I were on the committee, I couldn’t keep a straight face, and wouldn’t.

Why don’t the Republicans subpeona Don Rickles to testify on organized crime in the casino industry, based on Rickles’ work in “Casino”?

Makes about as much sense.

If you are in District 19 then vote for Edward Gonzalez. He is the opponent running against Zoe Lofgren.

The district runs from San Jose down to San Martin.

He is a terrific fellow. I met him back in June and really liked his message.

Anyone who watched this and are interested, please call Zoe Lofgren’s phone in D.C. and let her staff know how you feel about her invitation to Colbert and the mockery made of both our system and the subject of ILLEGAL immigrant farmworkers. I did, and was given an argumentative earful right back at me!! This behavior was absolutely unacceptable, IMO.
