Republican Jeff Perry, a self-proclaimed Tea Party member, said he doesnt want former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to campaign for him because of the baggage she would bring, after dismissing the former vice presidential candidate as an entertainer in a TV interview.
I dont want to interject the debate over the national Tea Party with my race about my district, said Perry, seeking to replace U.S. Rep. William Delahunt. Im trying not to interject a national debate that would distract from my message.

He doesn’t have to like Palin, any more than NH Tea Party and Palin have to agree on a Senate candidate. Palin herself said she won;t get involved where she’d hurt. I like Palin, but others can perceive her differently.
Fine with me. Sarah’s time and energy is extremely limited and extremely precious.
If this dork doesn’t want her help, I am sure there are many others who do.
In a moonbat-ridden state, the only GOPers who can get elected to major positions are political invertebrates, at best. Think Mittens.
If it works no complaints. Let’s get rid of the commies.
If she flew in and campaigned for him—or even just tweeted an endorsement, he’d assuredly lose. Sad but true. She’s made great gains in the past year as to the number of states she’s a boost in, but MA is particularly tough.
on the other hand, if you prefer to be in lock-step, there is always the Democrat Party. Or are we going to add an ideological litmus test to Tea Party members now?
Each candidate has to determine what is going to help him win in his district. Sarah would probably hurt more than help here, and if distancing himself from her helps him, then I am fine with that. But you can distance yourself without insulting.
Absolutely. So many people living in solid red states don't seem to grasp this but it is what it is. By dissing Scott Brown a while back, Sarah Palin probably did more to help him than many of her supporters understand.
I’m from Mass. I get the politics. Of course Palin would not be a net plus for Perry.
But the question was a setup. Just like asking a Dem in TX if they want Obama to campaign for them.
But you don’t have to go so low as to call her “an entertainer.” There are many ways to get around the question.
My only question is:
Why did Mr. Perry choose to announce this in a newspaper? Couldn’t he have shown a little class and just not said anything?
Whatever.
It makes me wonder if there is something in his background that he doesn’t want discovered by the national press. Sarah Palin shines a huge light on candidates and maybe he prefers to keep the lights dim.
No MA GOP candidate in his right mind would want Palin to back him publicly.
Just remember on Nov 3, he gets a back row spot in the class picture. Behind the tall guy.
I caught that, too - no reason to abase her like that, unless it's to shamelessly score some cheap points with the local Demoncrats.
He can easily distance himself from her without insulting her - unless he's just naturally a jerk.
Yep. Lots of long-time RINOs are, indeed, liberal plants, as is being exposed. But the issue of getting elected in true-blue states is something else. We need to be able to differentiate the two—even though the latter has often been used as a cover for the former.
With Rove & Perino relentlessly attacking O’Donnell, Perry probably mis-read the cues and thought the new game plan was to attack people in his own party.
Delahunt as DA helped spring that woman professor from Harvard who killed her own brother and then killed her colleagues in Alabama when they wouldn’t give her tenure.

You may very well be right.
Why this lady (Perino) is a commentator I’ll never know?
