Olympia Snowe is going to announce she will retire before the primary and finish January 2013.

That would be the best result. We are spared a bruising primary, and she will stay a Republican until the end in order to keep her seniority. My fear is that she will pull a Jumping Jim Jeffords. We had the majority, they he changed sides to hand it back to the Democrats. If we do take the Senate in 2010 watch for Snowe or Grahm to switch parties.
