GOP Aims to Erode White House Agenda (Deprive Obama Programs of Cash...)
WSJ ^ | Sunday SEPTEMBER 19, 2010 | NEIL KING JR. And JANET ADAMY

Eyeing a potential Congressional win in November, House Republicans are planning to chip away at the White House's legislative agenda—in particular the health-care law—by depriving the programs of cash.

The emerging plan has been devised in part to highlight the policy differences between the two main parties, especially over legislative achievements of the Obama administration that have proven unpopular with voters.

[.....]

But Republican lawmakers portray the anticipated drama as foreshadowing the far bigger brawl of the 2012 presidential elections and a clash of visions with President Barack Obama. A vote in the House to repeal the health-care overhaul would be among the GOP's top priorities.

Republican leaders are also devising legislative maneuvers that might have a bigger impact, using appropriations bills and other tactics to try to undermine the administration's overhaul of health care and financial regulations and its plans to regulate greenhouse gases. GOP leaders also hope to trim spending, return unspent stimulus funds and restore sweeping tax cuts.

They'll start out with a bang....doing the right things, then they will be criticized by the media, then they will compromise, then they will fold.

Maybe the threat of pitchfolks and torches at home will provide an extended period of backbone.

The damage done by stupid voters in the 2006 and 2008 elections will not be undone in one mid-term vote this November.

It’s going to take patience. Our biggest challenge will be to remain determined and not get discouraged.

This is a good start. Whatever works, whatever means available to stop the agenda.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You get the prize for most astute comment of the day. The also need to give the POTUS the ability to furlough federal employees. The next GOP POTUS could put this to excellent use.

Somehow I don’t see DeMint, or Angle, or Miller, or many of the others capitulating. If they were going to simply capitulate, the Republican Establishment would not be SCARED TO DEATH OF THEM.

It’s called actual beliefs - a very strange idea to most politicians and especially to Democrats.

We have to stop them from capitulating.

Put the pressure on them.

Make them do what is right.

DeMint, Angle, Miller and a few more is not enough in the Senate, but it is good none the less that they are there.....I’m taking about the others.

There is a JFK Executive Order that has to be rescinded for that one. Need POTUS for that. Or a veto-proof majority, which is not in the cards.

EO 10988

I live in John Boehner's district. Our Congressman has NEVER brought home an earmark. Nada. Nothing.

No schools named after him, no hospitals, parks, hiways.

Dems are going to go after Boehner but he's never accepted Federal earmarks for his district.

Bloomberg's BUSINESSWEEK did a real nice writeup on DeMint. He seems pretty grounded in his beliefs and I'd really be surprised if he capitulated.

I would think the best way to get rid of ObamaCare(less) is two-fold. First, don't fund it so it has to be break even. Then, make the opt out something like $100 or so.

All the awful laws, mandates that they have passed MUST be repealed. If they just defund them, the minute the dummies get control back they start pouring money into the sink hole again.

Repeal and replace the laws.
