Landrieu 'Open-Minded' to Extending Bush Tax Cuts
FOXBusiness ^ | September 17, 2010 | By Peter Barnes

“I’m going to stay open minded to it,” Landrieu said in an interview with FOX Business. “A one-year tax extension in this economy probably would be good. But we may not be able to afford it and there might not be enough concessions on the other side to make that happen, so we’ll see.”

Four other moderate Senate Democrats and one Independent, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), have publicly called for extending the all of the Bush tax cuts into next year or longer. Senate Republicans, who favor keeping all of them permanent, said this week that other Democratic senators have privately expressed support for an extension.

Landrieu said her priority is keeping Bush tax cuts for middle-class families in place and that any extension for taxpayers earning more than $250,000 would have to be paid for with spending cuts or revenue raisers.

“Let’s get as many people captured in the lower rates as possible and then see what other money or spending cuts might be available for additional tax cuts. We’ve got to get back to ‘pay-as-you-go’… We can’t keep charging tax cuts on the next generation.”

The Obama administration says maintaining the Bush tax cuts for higher-income families would cost about $700 billion. But that is a 10-year budget estimate. Extending them just into 2011 would cost about $30 billion, according to the administration’s budget projections. The administration projects a $1.4 trillion budget deficit in 2011.

$700 billion divided by 10 years = $70 billion per year

$70 billion per year(private sector) vs. Government Stimulus #(n +1) It's a no-brainer, run the numbers Landrieu!

She’s open-minded because her brain fell out and she doesn’t care to open it up again should she find it. Going to need one hell of a magnifying glass for that, I would think.

One year is worthless. All that will do is keep people sitting on their money trying to guess what will happen in a year.

Her miss piggy open mind can kiss mine. She is beyond fake.

All bow to miss piggy because she won’t tax the ever lovin crap out of you while you have no job.

And people that make $250K a year are not the wall street fat cats Obama adorns on one breathe into his campaign slush fund of donations and mocks and smears on the other hand for being rich FAT CATS.

People that make $250K a year are Katie’s Beauty Shop, Sam’s Antique store,Gomer Pyles gas station,HVAC Plumbing construction companies, It would be chaos if these people or anyone were overly taxed.

The taxing right now is ridiculous. look at any pay grades pay stub they rob us all.

All of the fat cats that wipe they’re behinds with thousand dollar bills don’t give a rats petard they will run to their Saint Bart’s home or Bahamian bank with they’re skilled CPA’s.

This is odd of her to say, considering that she voted against extending the Tax Cuts back in 2006.

People that make gross $250K a year... and you are right - a small business can easily gross $250k but take home $50k.

Obama couldn't come up with a better way to destroy small businesses.

All the while claiming to be helping them.

Its way beyond frustrating.

According to Democrats...we can NEVER afford tax cuts, but we can ALWAYS afford runaway government spending (aka “stimulus”)

These people are brain dead and evil IMHO.

Supplies and parts. IF they are still in business in this economy. A once booming town has just one still operational at this juncture imagine after Obama raises taxes.

If you have dems ruling your state income tax is horrendous, plus fed medicare insurance you barely have a paycheck to live off of AS IT STANDS NOW.

And you are right it is very frustrating.

Yes, in November, we'll see.

We aren't asking, we're telling.
