NEW YORK The imam leading the effort to build an Islamic center and mosque near the World Trade Center site said Monday that a resolution to the raging debate over its location is being examined.
"We are exploring all options as we speak right now, and we are working to what will be a solution, God willing, that will resolve this crisis, defuse it and not create any unforeseen or untoward circumstances that we do not want to see happen," Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said during a question-and-answer session following a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations.
He did not elaborate on whether the options included moving the center from a site two blocks from ground zero.
But in response to a later question, Rauf said the proposed location, while controversial, was important.
"We need a platform where the voice of moderate Muslims can be amplified. ... This is an opportunity that we must capitalize on so the voice of moderate Muslims will have a megaphone," he said.
The imam said he wanted to clarify a "misperception" that the Islamic center's proposed site was sacred ground.

I suspect the Democrats are subjecting him to enormous pressure not to let this continue into the fall.
But cold cash is OK.
Wonder if the lawsuit freaked him out...?
Question: Whatever happened to the Donald’s offer to purchase the property at 25% over the price it was bought so that they can build the mosque elsewhere?
That would have been a good compromise.
Well, exactly. I was gonna say, "he drives a pretty hard bargain for someone who refuses to barter."
I bet Obama finds a way to have us pay for the whole thing as part of the agreement.
Were his lips moving?

If that doesn’t focus your intention on this bastard’s intent, nothing will.

...I thought this -——— said the same thing two weeks ago...
when are people going to realize that lying is considered an art form for Muslims?
Gitmo this islamist.

And if I'm banned (or suspended) for this post I think I'll be able to live with that.

The original owner initially wanted 18 million (the owner at that time was the widow of the developer who first bought it) but for some reason refused offers of that amount in order to accept Rauf’s offer of $4 million to buy the place. Trump offered Rauf 25% more, 5 million total, to buy it back, which Rauf refused.
However, I don’t think it’s about the money, since he couldn’t possibly be thinking of the 18 million, unless he perceives that this would be a form of holding the land hostage and making the kaffirs pay a ransom to get it back. That’s possible, I suppose.
But I think that he and the Muslims in general really want to build this thing on that site, and it’s vitally important to them because it is not just a mosque, but a “rabat,” a building that Muslims build on a site just after they conquer it to use as their base of operations in the newly conquered territory. While the rabat contains a mosque, it is also intended for military and administrative activities (such as the “Sharia Index,” monitoring sharia compliance, which will also be located in Rauf’s building) for the purpose of governing the conquered territory.
If we think of this as Rauf’s rabat and not his mosque, we’ll have a more accurate idea of what it is and why they want it so much.
He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing!
