Petraeus has to figure that there are some drunk with endtimes Koolaid who think it is their duty to start Armageddon and they don’t give a crap about troop difficulties. Petraeus wants to save the lives of our troops not fight Armageddon for them to be taken up on Jones’ spaceship. They should create a volunteer army of the like minded and put their boots on the ground.

The problem for the political class is that the Koran burning is a bad idea for precisely the same reason the Ground Zero Mosque is a bad idea. In both cases the proponents have a clear legal right to do what they want to do but in both cases doing so shows bad judgment and needlessly antagonizes some people. But since the political class says do the Mosque anyway and screw anyone who is offended their opposition to the Koran burning really is hypocritical.

So, no doubt they'll go back to the playbook and trot out the old standards, like racism, hate crimes, blah, blah, blah.

I thought the point of the war was to fight "extremists," who are already violent?

Will they cease violence if that church doesn't burn the book. (Yes, it's a rhetorical question.)

If Islam were non-violent, there would not be an issue. If Islam did not encouraged it's followers to incite war and violence in their quest to dominate the world, there would not be an issue.

Fact is, the Qu'ran does incite violence, and they do violence. Why else are we involved a global war against it?
