Tonight President Obama will be giving a speech with Iraq as a major theme and I have just two words that he really ought to include.
Thank You.
And that ought to be addressed to George W. Bush. He should man up and admit that he was wrong about every single thing he said about the Iraq War while he was in the Senate and he should thank President Bush for being resolute enough to ignore him, Hillary, Reid, Pelosi and the rest of the cut and run chorus. If we had followed the advice of then Sen. Obama, we would have lost the war and al Qaeda and the Iranians would be carving it up between them.
Now I dont expect Obama to do this, but if he has the decency to at least mention President Bush and his contribution to the victory we achieved there I will gain a modicum of respect for him. The troops sure know who had their back and who was trying to stick a knife in it and no speechifying is going to change that. But he has the opportunity to show that he can learn and try to grow into the role of Commander in Chief. Well see.
Generally, I would expect to hear no "Hoo-rahs" from our troops tonight.
Like, failure in Afghanistan.
CAMPAIGN PROMISE ACCOMPLISHED
Knowing the number of I(s)in the speech will tell me enough.
He’ll say something like: “Despite the shortcomings of the strategy we inherited, we persevered and now the Iraqis can look forward to hope and change and we can brings the boys home.”
Lines you won’t hear in the speech:
“The troop surge worked in Iraq.”
“George Bush signed the initial agreement in accordance with Iraqi authorities to leave Iraq.”
“I was completely wrong about the efficacy of the troop surge.”
Ever since Obama gave his first speech, I refused to listen to him anymore.
I make sure I turn the channel to one that is not airing him speak.
Do you need a hand?
Lets hope that Billy the Exterminator or NFL Replay have something to offer during OBOZO’s reading of a teleprompter. I often wonder if Rahm masterbates while watching OBOZO read his words?
I have to clean the septic tank, it is going to get deep.
If he stays true to form, Obama will happily take credit for the Iraq troops coming home on schedule without ever directly mentioning the surge strategy that made it possible, nor his opposition to it, nor the name of his predecessor, who promoted it. The result will be politically disastrous if it turns out that this man cannot surmount his own ego, if only for a few minutes and for the benefit of his party.
ping for later...
A buddy of mine is convinced that he will take another swipe at President Bush-as he did often on Sunday in New Orleans-by saying something like
“ This is not Mission Accomplished as there will be more set backs along the way...”
Barry is a self aggrandizing, mean spirited little man
who is incapable of humility and graciousness ,
so I expect his usual self worshiping speech , but,
I don’t think he’d be that petty.
But, then again, it’s Barry , so anything slimy and low down is completely possible.
ME BLESS AMERICA!
Obama says his speech won’t be a “victory lap, or self-congratulations.” That tells you he thinks he has something to congratulate himself for when he had next to nothing to do with this milestone, and in fact tried to do a lot to hinder its realization. The guy is actually acting like Patton rolling into Nazi Germany.
0bama’s speech will be the usual rooster congratulating himself on a wonderful sunrise oration while in full TOTUS mode.
Oh, I think it’s going to be an apology - to Iraq for having invaded in the first place. That’s why he called President Bush - to let him know he was going to throw him under the bus.
