Some lives are without doubt a waste of precious resources.

This hitchens fellow is a prime example.

Blaming the Pope for the sexual abuse in the Church is like blaming himself for his cancer.

Did Hitchens actually say that God is dead? Not respecting the Pope isn’t anti-God. Non-Catholic Christians also see the pope for what he is...

No,that's not meant as a slam of non Catholic Christians. It's a play on an old joke regarding atheists.Hitchens,IIRC,was a militant atheist...not a non Catholic Christian.

I enjoy listening to most of Hitchens’ ruminations (even though I may not agree), but he has a decidedly nasty bent at times. I myself wonder from time to time when that old bastard Kissinger is going to kick it though.

Hitchens knows there is a God and despises Him.

God will judge ol' Hitch justly.

Meantime, I pray for his repentance and conversion.

Yeah, I believe in miracles.

I need the prayers but I do not believe that we as human beings need an intermediary to a Holy God. That One has already been born suffered and raised from the dead. He is our only Intermediary, our only Intercessor, and I reject that there are any elite ideas of Old Testament Priesthood needed for our sanctification, daily walk or communication with the Lord God. The Temple Curtain was rent for a reason, and that reason was that the ritual of the Old Covenant is dead, but its power made alive through the outpouring at Pentecost.

I like Hitchen’s Orwellian ideas. I know he needs the Lord. And again I thank you for any personal prayers. I simply reject on solid bible grounds the false asceticism of a monastic lifestyle that has been propagated by Catholics for centuries. The Apostle Paul warned against false asceticism — the idea of thinking one is “more spiritual” for removing oneself from the world and the daily struggles, sorrows slings arrows and crosses of the world. Jesus did not do that, nor did the Apostles and the whole idea of a separated priesthood has been the source and trouble and indeed, horrible sin of the Catholic church for centuries.

Again, it is NOT more spiritual to remove oneself from the World, and we are NOT to conduct our lives that way. This is what the pagans do... like the Dali Lama, those who go to ashrams, etc. We will be removed from the world and its temptations soon enough.

I simply don't understand the whole hierarchy of the Catholic Church nor do I understand how those in power there can believe that the Holy Spirit has any free flow through that false asceticism and elitist Old Testament ideas.

And no I was not brought up Catholic but did attend Catholic girls school and was kicked out of the school about a year before I became born again through more normal Charismatic Pentecostal means. Those nuns were weird, used to run their hands through my hair in a creepy way when I got in trouble, and still creep me out because they had an outward idea of religion in their habits and ritualized lifestyle but NONE of the miracle power of the Holy Spirit. Bleah, sorry. I used to accuse them of being communists with the totalitarian way they lived. What does Paul say? None of the things they did had ANY power in the Spirit, just outward formalities that bore God. And me.

Lord, please open this man’s eyes and heal his spirit. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Those are some very sad eyes.

I have no credibility outside of Christ, so not worried. Am praying for Hitchens, tho.

I wouldn’t say that God despises him, ‘pities him’ would probably be more accurate.

Isn't this loser of the "pervert" persuasion?

That would explain the life view he feels compelled to share with the rest of us...
