"British soldier shot in Afghanistan is saved my his ROSARY... just like his great-grandfather in WWII"

A soldier who stood on a landmine and was shot in the chest in Afghanistan is convinced a rosary saved his life in exactly the same way as his great-grandfather towards the end of World War II.

Glenn Hockton, 19, who is now home from a seven-month tour of duty with the Coldstream Guards in Helmand Province, was on patrol when his rosary suddenly fell from his neck.

His mother Sheri Jones said today: 'He felt like he had a slap on the back. He bent down to pick up his rosary to see if it was broken. As he bent down he realised he was on a landmine.'

Sounds a bit like great-grand dad gave him a whack, too.

The Daily Mail and UK Telegraph are the best newspapers in the world. They are owned by the Barclay Brothers in the UK. Their parents were Scottish and they grew up in England in a large Catholic family of very modest means. The brothers became very sucessful.

I doubt you would read this in any other newspapers.

15? years ago a teenager was standing outside her house in Los Angeles when a drive-by shooting occurred. A bullet struck her in the chest and knocked her down.

When the policed investigated, they found out that the large-caliber bullet had hit her solid gold Our Lady of Guadalupe medal which her mother had bought in Mexico, and bounced off. The cops were baffled because bullets can go through soft gold like butter.

The girl didn`t have a scratch. I immediately bought 5 solid gold Lady of Guadalupe medals from Mexico City for my family to wear.

having being born and grown up in the UK I can tell you right now that there are many facts which do not get covered in the Guardian, BBC ITV, etc

>>I doubt you would read this in any other newspapers.<<

...unless it was a deck of playing cards that stopped the bullet. Then I’m sure we’d be hearing about it.

To his dying day, my grandfather believed it was my grandmother’s rosary that kept him alive through WWII.

He never carried it, but my grandmother used it from the day he left to the day he returned.

Cool story, thanks for posting.

Our son told of an attack on his position by hadjis - wave after wave of RPG-7 rocket grenades. shortly after launch - they veered wildly, flying off into nearby fields. He described others as ‘exploding like a string of firecrakers’ so many were launched.

Not a single Marine was injured. The hadjis didn’t fare so well.

Bad ammo?

Or

The power of prayer? You can draw your own conclusions, I have drawn mine.

Thanks again for the post.

Indeed - the Daily Mail is a great newspaper - taking the time to publish human stories that can give hope to many.

Not something seen in US ‘newspapers’.

A happy story about good people who believe in God and aren't afraid or ashamed to say so publicly.

He knows the heart of every living soul. The more we surrender to Him for protection, the more He gladly and lovingly offers it.

It’s the only happy way to live in this mortal world.
