I’ve been doing genealogy since 1980. I know how hard some of that is to read. I know about mistakes too. It’s usually not the dates. And they give ““exactly” or within 2, 5 or 10 years” because Aunt Sally doesn’t remember so well. I’ve busted more than one family myth. Usually with death certificates. I had always been told that a GGrandmother died in Indiana. She didn’t.

Family Accepts Apology From Judge Who Told Lie

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Relatives of a black youth killed by whites in 1963 have accepted an apology from a federal judge who publicly lied about being the victim’s brother. U.S. District Judge James Ware of San Jose, Calif., expressed his regret to relatives of Virgil Ware during a weekend meeting in Birmingham, Mark White, a lawyer for the family, said Monday. The judge flew to Alabama after asking for the meeting with the victim’s real brothers, said White. The judge admitted last week he had fabricated his role in the story.

James Hood, who in 1963 was the first black man admitted to the University of Alabama, has long fascinated audiences with a story about seeing his uncle hanged and burned by Ku Kluxers in the 1950s. A typical public airing was at an April 26, 1998 “racial unity” rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where he said: “I crawled over to the window and pulled aside the drapes, and I saw a man hanging, burning. And the next morning, I learned that the man was my uncle.” His listeners reportedly “groaned and murmured in shock.”
A local newspaper, the Wisconsin State Journal began looking into the story and contacted the Times of Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Hood was informed that there was no record of such a lynching. At first he stuck to his guns: “These things happened every day, particularly in that area. I can verify it as a human being. Yes, it happened. I saw it. And I know there won’t be any written record of it. If I had to stand on a stack of Bibles, I would do it. But ask me to show documentation, I can’t do it.” Later he admitted he made up the story. Mr. Hood is now chairman of police, firefighting, and paramedic training education at Madison Area Technical College. He appears to be in no danger of losing his job. I personally find the interest in this story and the timing questionable and distasteful. There is very little to gain and a whole lot to lose reputation wise.
I agree with some of that. Maybe the investigation shouldn’t be done on the board. I have read 2 different accounts of the man’s death and it’s worth pursuing but not publicly.
May I call on EVERY freeper to become in-house Miss Marples and Hercule Poirots starting immediately by following Nasube's lead on each and every political story where something doesn't quite ring true to you.
We have to get the goods not only on these racist liars but on all enemy oppressers whose backgrounds and true intentions are ignored or covered up by the treasonous media.
One of our own did it on Dan Rather....we must continue the mission....doubling down between now and election.

About the only thing you are going to find in calling for an investigation of this death today, in the middle of all this other stuff going on with this woman, are rallying cries of support for Ms. Sherrod against the persecutorial attacks of the white man questioning the crimes that took place against black men and women during that time period.

Of course, it was perfectly fine for the media to lynch Sarah a few years ago.

Any further info on Sherrod is great, but maybe we should also be looking for any NAACP speeches on video so that we can assess the trends in the audience reaction to racist/marxist ideas???

In some places in the South the Act may have been signed but it was NOT immediately implemented.
There were no blacks on the jury in Oxford NC in 1970 when a black Army vet was killed by a couple of white men. They walked and the town burned.
Anyway my beef is mostly with HuffPo being vague.
The thing is that those numbers are dwarfed by the number of murders of Whites by racist Blacks since that time. I can name dozens in my local area in, say, the last decade.
According to FBI statistics the overwhelming percentage of inter racial violence is black on white but for some reason, of course WE know why, these murders are just crime while the rare murder of a black by Whitey is a hate crime.
Had a case in a neighboring town about 10 yrs. ago where 3 black thugs beat a terminally ill White woman to death on the street in broad daylight in front of her 3 yr old son. The DA plead the case down to involuntary manslaughter reasoning that the victim was dying anyhow so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I see no difference between this case and what may have happened to sherrod's father.
One of the men who was accused of the murder here is still living in the county. He’s a barber and still has business.
So he lives his life and the Vet doesn’t. *sigh*
