(Vanity) CNN/CBS lies about Bush vacation days!

Posted on 07/17/2010 12:19:28 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

I was watching a piece on CNN about obama's vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine, and the CNN reporter said she talked to a CBS reporter who "keeps track of tese sorts of things", and she said that while obama has taken 85 vacation days, this was not as much as Bush, who supposedly took 216 days at this point in his presidency.

216 days is 7 months....out of 17 months? Cannot believe the lies these people spew.....I do not have the caol, hard numbers for number of days, but I do know it was NOT 7 months at this point in time.

Effing liars. Hope someone from the MRC calls them out on this one.

Bush probably took 216 days over 8 years, i.e., 24 per year—a little over 3 weeks. Even that seems high, but I’m guessing they also include weekend golf time on the presumption that the president has a 24/7 job etc. But of course, by that standard, Obama has spent 5 WEEKS just on the golf course during his first 17 months in office.

Obama said yesterday in an interview that he loses sleep knowing there are so many unemployed in the nation.Although tt doesn’t seem to have affected his golf game.

I’ve seen this mentioned several times on far left sites. I know it can’t be true, Bush had a serious work ethic. He even stopped playing golf after 9/11.

Even if Bush took that many days over the course of 8 years, why would they compare obama’s vacation to date to Bush’s vacation total? Two entirely different numbers for comparison.

85 vacation days, 41 rounds of golf!!!! You have got to be kidding me. I’m geeked that I get 20 days of yearly vacation coming up in a few months.

here’s an article from the Washington Posts dated 8/2005, four and a half years into the Bush presidency...

>snip<

The August getaway is Bush’s 49th trip to his cherished ranch since taking office and Tuesday was the 319th day that Bush has spent, entirely or partially, in Crawford — roughly 20 percent of his presidency to date, according to Mark Knoller, a CBS Radio reporter known for keeping better records of the president’s travel than the White House itself. Weekends and holidays at Camp David or at his parents’ compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, bump up the proportion of Bush’s time away from Washington even further.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/02/AR2005080201703.html

319 days after 4.5 years = 71 days per year....hence dumbama is about equal with GWB’s pace....

factor in they talk about GWB being either “entirely or partially” on vacation in Crawford....if we add in dumbama’s days of golf (a round of golf takes 4+ hours to play 18 holes; half a day) he is surely way ahead of GWB’s pace...

The 85 day figure seems high too. That’s three months out of 18. But 85 days or 215, accuracy has never been the hallmark of CNN.

To the left, Bush was 'the worst president ever' so whenever their idol, Obama, is criticized, they naturally want to re-direct the attention to George W. Bush, whom they loath, anyway and want to be sure to diminish as much as possible.

You see this all the time when liberals are interviewed on TV. Whenever the Obama administration is criticized, they quickly revert to 'Bush did it too...or worse'. It's childish and frustrating but hey, we're dealing with liberals.

I don’t really want to defend EITHER Obama or Bush to be honest, but all this talk of the President needing to actually physically be in the White House all day long or he isn’t “doing anything” is crazy.

The “white house” is wherever the President is. A president could theoretically have a guy there sending out decisions and having conversations while bowling or swimming.

Or a President could be locked in the Oval Office playing XBOX360...does that mean he is “working”?

Obama is either doing the worst job in history, or the best if you are a fan of liberal fascism. He is doing what he intended to do, speed up the collapse of the country as we knew it.

Quite honestly I’d be a lot happier if it went back to the way the framers intended, Congress is a part time job and the President gets called off the Golf course if the Chinese are sailing into San Francisco Bay...while all the real work gets done at the STATE and LOCAL level.

Things are usually better when the politicians are too busy fiddling around to “work”.

If Bush had played more golf, maybe we wouldn’t have the monstrosity that is DHS right now.

““entirely or partially” on vacation in Crawford”

And don’t forget Camp David and the “Western Whitehouse” in Texas were equipped to do the Nation’s business.
The Grand Canyon, Bar Harbor, Paris, etc., etc., etc., are not! Big difference in my eyes!

I think the whole thing is silly. If you count weekends on Obama’s vacation, it is probably not much. We have a ton of things to show how weak he is...this should not be one of them. With real problems that he created is much more important to discuss.

When he was at Crawford Bush was CONSTANTLY hosting foreign state leaders.

These were not vacation days. They were days set up to have state talks in a more friendly atmosphere and all required tons of preparation.

Have we seen Obama host ANY state leader for talks on his vacations? He's only been back to his home in Chicago once that I know of.

It doesn't hurt to keep reminding the left, though, of all the cushy places Obama is going to.

Bush basically either went to his own home or his father's.

vacation in Crawford

Since when is Crawford a vacation spot? It's essentially a home he owns in Texas. It's not like a summer home on Cape Cod.

When Palin becomes president, would they call it a vacation if she went home?

I wish they would yell out about how unemployment was lower when he took over. That would do more than he took 80 days off in 1 year and a half especially since most people take 2 days off a week which is well over 100 days a year (just on weekends alone).
