No, that would have rallied the anti-corporate lefties around Obama.
Right now Obama's left-wing is shattered which is why they're trying to find an enemy target.

Barton’s arse kissing of Hayward was abysmal, the worst kind of prostration.
And how does Tony pay America back, he goes yachting.
That is a BIG FU to America from Tony.
Emotionally, the apology stuck most Americans as deeply wrong.
