Former EBay Chief Executive Meg Whitman and Former Hewlett-Packard Chief Executive Carly Fiorina held early leads in the Republican races for governor and U.S. Senate respectively.

With about 7% of the vote counted from around the state, Whitman is earning 65.6% of the Republican vote, compared to 25.3% for Steve Poizner.

Fiorina has 59% of the early vote, leading former Congressman Tom Campbell and Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R-Irvine), who have 22% and 16% of the vote respectively.

In other races, Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley, a Republican, and San Francisco Dist. Atty. Kamala Harris, a Democrat, are leading their parties' races for attorney general.

In the race for lieutenant governor, newly appointed incumbent Abel Maldonado is ahead on the Republican side, while San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom holds a lead over Los Angeles Councilwoman Janice Hahn on the Democratic side.

Wow! Now JimRob will be able to get rid of the incessant push for Devore, stop the trash against Fiorina.

The key is to wipe Boxer’s ass, with whatever you got. Looks like we’ve got Fiorina.

My husband and I did not vote for either Poizner or Whitman - them being pro choice and all.

I wrote in my husband’s name for governor! LOL

I voted for Chuck but I will be voting for Fiorina in the General. Boxer is among the worst of the worst.

Oh, goody. Another race where we'll have 2 dems in the general.

I saw Fiorina on Fox yesterday and she was asked by Greta about her performance at H-P. She had a very good answer...paraphrasing...it is good that businesses have statistics on record and then she rattled off all the
progress made by H-P during her job as CEO. I was impressed!
She should make a commercial out of her answer. This lady is 100 times more intelligent than Boxer. Hope she beats Boxer.
