Surprise Poll Results: Obama Oil Response Worse Than Bush Katrina Response
Dakota Voice ^ | 6/7/10 | Bob Ellis

Considering the (a) all-out media hysteria over Katrina and the blitz of condemnation of President Bush by liberal politicians and members of the “mainstream” media, and (b) the interference and cover the “mainstream” media has run for President Obama over the BP oil spill…the results of this poll are nothing short of amazing.

Via Newsmax from an ABC News/Washington Post poll:

A month and a half after the spill began, 69 percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll rate the federal response negatively. That compares with a 62 negative rating for the response to Katrina two weeks after the August 2005 hurricane.

These surprising numbers may just indicate that record-low numbers of Americans are drinking the Koolaid the “mainstream” media is desperately selling.

Public confidence in the objectivity, accuracy and reliability of “mainstream” media information has been dropping for 15 years or more. After the “in-the-tank” overtly pro-Obama media coverage of 2008, public confidence probably dropped several notches.

How much should the federal government be doing in this situation? A lot less than many want it to, I suspect. To a great extent, state and local governments are still the best level of response to disasters. They are closer to the issue and, when compared to the bloated and inefficient federal government, far more capable of action.

When Hurricane Katrina struck, state and local authorities like that of Louisiana and New Orleans responded slowly and incompetently–then blamed the federal government (and the convenient Republican administration) for their own ineptitude. Of course, the “mainstream” media was right there to hype stories of suffering, shed tears and make impassioned pleas for help.

I think there is an argument to be made, however, that the federal government has a greater role for response with the oil spill since it is taking place far off the coast of the country and originates well outside the boundaries of any state or states.

Still, these poll results after the predictable media double-standard are very interesting…and encouraging. If our republic is to survive, the American people must learn to look beyond the propaganda of our “mainstream” media.

Based on this article, the poll doesn’t say that Obama’s response was worse than Bush’s. Did they even ask people that question? All this says is that 6% more people view the response negatively. It doesn’t say which they think is worse.

Make no mistake, I wasn’t even aware that Obama had responded to the spill.

Let me be clear, the only thing I have seen him do is party.

Moreover, President Tar Ball sucks.

Every national news outlet signed off the first night of Katrina basically saying that New Orleans had dodged a bullet... everyone including Bush went to sleep thinking everything was ok...

When we all woke up the next morning everything had done to hell in a handbasket... Bush and other rescuers started to respond ... but then moronic people in New Orleans started SHOOTING at the people trying to help them. This cause several days of delays before rescuers could be safely brought in without fearing for their lives.

Compare that to what Obama has done... it's been like a month and a half now... and all he has done is pick up a few tar balls and appoint a commission to study the problem between his golf games and parties.

I still think Bush was a crappy president but a poll like this REALLY warms my heart, finally Obama and democrats are getting what they deserve. They demigod-ed Katrina to death and this is justice, sweet smelling justice too. (Glad it aint President Mccain.)

"I love the sweet smell of oil in the morning staining the Obama legacy" to steal from Apocalypse Now.

Unfortunately, by the time the next presidential election happens, this will all be forgotten.

I think they wanted oily birds and spoiled beaches to justify Cap n Tax, seize oil companies and pursue their “green economy”. Fortunately it is backfiring on them, bigtime!

Media fail repeatedly to mention the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 giving POTUS complete responsibility for immediate action in cleaning up an oil spill.
