I was just browsing around watching some of Reagan's 1980 GOP convention speech. An excellent address, by the way. Anyway, as he was nearing the end, at around 5 seconds in to this clip, I noticed the camera panned back to show some of the people on the platform, and you can see Bush41 and Bar behind him. And then right behind 41 you can see a 34 yr old W and Laura. W looks like a cross between Sonny Corleone and Ron Burgundy. You can see Jeb next to Laura.
I just thought it was amazing that in that one shot there, one behind the other were the next 3 GOP Presidents(possibly the next 4 with Jeb), all lined up in a row(30 years of leadership). I'm sure at the time, few if any thought that was the case when they saw that shot. But it was just really cool to see them all together like that. It reminded me of this painting that's out there of the GOP Presidents playing poker with Reagan, W, 41, Nixon, Ford and Ike all sitting around the table.
It's amazing how interconnected everything in the GOP is. Reagan and Bush both passed over by Ford for VP for in 74. Reagan takes on Ford in 76. Then both Reagan and Bush go at it in 80 and Ford is a late possibility for VP before it goes to Bush. And Bush's son follows in his father's footsteps in 2000, ironically enough claiming Reagan's mantle over that of his father, and saying that we was more like Reagan than his dad.
Just thought freepers would get a kick out of seeing the shot and all of 3 of them. If you have the time, watch the whole speech.
No chance of that.
But thanks for posting -- Reagan's speeches always inspire.
Makes me cry to see this and know how the shining city on a hill that Reagan left us has been trashed by the lowlife trash that is occupying the peoples house.
I bet you are right. I bet there has never been a photo of as many presidents to be all in one shot like that. It is interesting. Thanks for posting it.
i have a newspaper with a photograph of Presidents Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush and Bill Clinton at President Nixon's funeral...

well, I remember at Nixon’s funeral Clinton, 41, Reagan, Carter and Ford were all sitting in the front row. I thin that’s the record. But that was of current and past Presidents.
This was of 3 guys, none of whom at the time were President, all of whom would go on to be President, all in succession, and in the order they were shown in. Reagan, then 41, then W.
I don’t think we’ve seen that.
Boy, I miss RR.
Thank you for pointing out the shot. It’s interesting, but I think I’m done with Bushes for now. And I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. They are all wonderful people and I’d rather have any of them over the plague that is in the WH now, but I want someone more like Reagan than they are. I might even take that a step futher and say I want a modern Thomas Jefferson, if there is such a person.
the difference was that Clinton was the current President and the other 4 were all past Presidents and were retired.
this one is of 3 future Presidents. All of the same party, all of whom would serve in the order you see them. 3 guys who would define their party for the next generation, who would largely define their country, who would largely define the world for the next generation.
Thanks for the link - sadly I can’t imagine that message being carried forth in this day and age. Great history lesson.
Only one of them would go on to be a Republican president.
It’s amazing to see Reagan surrounded by all those liberals, and think only the force of his convictions, and his leadership was bringing the country a conservative administration.
Ha! Did you see W and Laura do a whisper and head-bump?? They’re a great couple.
bttt
It’s really sad to see a great man- and then behind him the men who would dismantle his legacy. And their power was only made possible by his legacy.
So when’s the big moment with all the Presidents? So that way we don’t have to view the entire video.
God Bless Ronald Wilson Reagan.
