I miss him and think of him often. His gift was to remind me that even though “God doesnt promise us tomorrow, he does promise us eternity”.
In late April of 2007 a team of doctors informed me that without heart surgery, I might not have much more than 6 months to live.
On May 4, 2007 I went into the operating room. The surgeons removed a sack that was restricting my heart and gave me two bypasses. I suffered a stroke during surgery and contracted MRSA that ravaged my body, resulting in 2 months of painful Hell in that hospital and another year of recovery.
During those hours, days, weeks and months, I remembered the fighting, yet gentle, example that Tony had given to us all. I remembered those words, “God doesnt promise us tomorrow, he does promise us eternity.” Somehow Tony gave me comfort, if only for a moment at a time.....
I survived my battles and it’s been 3 years so far.
I miss Tony, but I believe he is happy right now.
Oh my goodness! God bless and protect you, Gator113. Thank you so much for your beautiful post!
