The US president has instead replaced it with a softer approach stressing "new partnerships" and multilateral diplomacy.
"Our long-term security will not come from our ability to instill fear in other peoples but through our capacity to speak to their hopes," Mr Obama said in a message introducing a new national security strategy.
In the 52-page document, drawn up after 16 months of deliberations, Mr Obama outlines a much broader set of priorities and methods than Mr Bush's tightly-focused determination to eradicate Islamism by any means possible and alone if necessary.
"We will always seek to delegitimise the use of terrorism and to isolate those who carry it out," it states. "Yet this is not a global war against a tactic – terrorism – or a religion – Islam.

You may be right. In fact, what a better time for the Islamic terrorist to back off than now. They have one of their own in the White House and our Fed Gov is increasingly kissing their ass. Terrorism is just one of the stategies to introduce Sharia law. As a writer said on one of the AM talk shows the other night. Islamist terrorism may have now outlived its usefuless. They are already imbedded in our society and government.

From the get go, the meme on 9-11 was “what did we do to cause them to do this”.
That was not the talking point after the 1993 WTC bombing. Or the USS Cole bombing, or the Khobar Towers bombing...
Now we see Islamic art exhibits and have “multiculturalism” pushed down our throats at every turn. Yet when some Christians try to spread their faith in Iraq, we are told by the OH SO tolerant Left that we should not try to “impose” our beliefs on the indigenous peoples.
Except that these lands were not always muslim. Mohammed’s cult spread by the sword. Without “exchange” of cultures, there is no cultural exchange. I don’t see with the attackers’ belief system gets welcomed in with an open door when the muslim homelands are intolerant of the West and the original faiths of the Middle East.
As Gerald Celente predicts will occur in 2010, another 9-11 type event could very well occur just to show this idiot President that just because he says the war is over, doesn’t mean our enemies think the same way and may now rev up their plans just to prove it to him.
There was some dumb politician or community organizer at a town meeting last year who said that the law of gravity don’t matter. We can CHANGE the laws if they are causing obstacles to green solutions (or something like that).
