Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has every right to celebrate the hard-won moral victory for her state.
Brewer stood up to the press, the open borders lobby, criticism from arrogant Obama administration officials who havent read the Arizona law, a lecturing President of Mexico and illegal alien protesters taking to the streets hurling threats and the dreaded R word at her. She has led the state of Arizona through the gauntlet and the moral victory is theirs.
Not that the Obama administration plans to do anything that would actually secure the border, but by announcing a deployment of up to 1,200 troops to somewhere in the near vicinity of the southern border region, the president has been forced into a political position of at least admitting theres a problem -- and that the Arizona governor was right. hat's a small step in the right direction.
My signing of Senate Bill 1070 has clearly ignited the talk of action in Washington for the people of Arizona and other border states, Brewer said in a written statement. I am anxious to hear of the details that have not yet been disclosed of where, how and for how long additional forces will be deployed.
With the accountability of this election year, I am pleased and grateful that at long last there has been a partial response from the Obama administration to my demands that Washington do its job, Brewer added.
Gravitas.
According to the Associated Press, The National Guard troops will work on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support, analysis and training, and support efforts to block drug trafficking. They will temporarily supplement border patrol agents until Customs and Border Protection can recruit and train additional officers and agents to serve on the border.
Where have we heard that before?
Oh, I remember, it was the last time a President tried to hold border security hostage to amnesty, but was forced by public pressure to deploy troops anyway.
In 2006, President George W. Bush sent 6,000 National Guard troopsto the border -- but not really. Unarmed National Guard troops were deployed in support roles -- not actually at the border -- and not all at once. And the situation has gotten much worse. Americans have lost their lives. You can't take that back.
The border region will continue to deteriorate until sufficient resources are dedicated to securing America's international boundatry with Mexico -- currently under the operational control of narco-terrorists.
Arizona Sens. Jon Kyl and John McCain issued a joint statement in reaction to what they termed an insufficient deployment and made an announcement of their own: We have been calling on President Obama to deploy National Guard troops to the border since March 2009 and are pleased he has finally started to recognize the essential needs of our Southwest states.
Though this initial deployment is an important first step, the President is not sending enough troops. We believe it would be very helpful if the President could visit the Mexico-U.S. border so he could see firsthand the threat to the safety of Americans from illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human smuggling. He could also personally witness the need for additional personnel, technology, and infrastructure necessary to secure to the border.
In 2006, President Bush deployed 6,000 National Guard troops to the Southwest border. We believe the situation on the border is far worse today than it was then due to the escalating violence between the Mexican drug cartels and the Mexican government. For this reason, we need to deploy at least 6,000 National Guard troops to the border region. The fact that President Obama announced today that he will only be sending one-fifth of the troops we believe are required is a weak start and does not demonstrate an understanding of the current situation in the region.
This morning, we proposed an amendment to fully fund 6,000 National Guard troops to be immediately deployed to the Southwest border and call on the President to support our amendment.
That hilarious puppet video put her over the top of those lying arsewhoops in the WH. Alinsky couldn't have done it better (had he been on the right side).
This has happened before:
Look what happened in 2007 [This is Big Sis talking when she was still AZ governor]:
Arizona Border Encounter Gets Political
Jan. 29, 2007
Excerpt
Four National Guard soldiers from Tennessee were at a lookout post at the border when they were approached by six to eight gunmen wearing bulletproof vests. One of the gunmen came within 35 feet of the observation site, according to investigators summaries.
The soldiers contacted Border Patrol agents and pulled back, investigators concluded. The Border Patrol tracked the armed men back to the border but could not locate them. No shots were fired.
Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano, National Guard officials and some state lawmakers defended the decision to call in the Border Patrol, saying the troops are not supposed to perform law enforcement duties. The governors office has said the rules allow Guard members to use force when they believe they face an imminent threat and all other means are exhausted.
I dont think that its up to the committee to negotiate the rules of engagement, Napolitano said. Those rules of engagement were negotiated with the National Guard at the federal level.
The troops were among the 6,400 National Guard members sent to the four southern border states to support immigration agents, and leave the agents with more time to catch illegal immigrants.
The support duties include monitoring border points, assisting with cargo inspection and operate surveillance cameras.
We dont apprehend, said Maj. Paul Aguirre, a spokesman for the Arizona National Guard. We dont detain. We dont transport.

Securing the border is not on a “One World Order” presidents agenda. No way.
Just wondering how “effective” these 1200 UNARMED National Guardsmen & women will be. Some of the coyotes are VERY well ARMED. O’bimbos lack of understanding or his lack of interest means the problem & its solving will remain squarely on the folks of Arizonia. Meanwhile Holder threatens suit over a law based on Federal law which he has NOT READ. Somehow this has the making of yet another finger pointing speech blaming it all on.........yep, you guessed it George BUSH!!!
Per Obama’s Rule of Engagement......
No weapons, no detainment, stay off of “their” favorite trails, don't check for drugs or weapons......
Ping!

Add to that “how many”. “Up to 1200 troops” technically could amount to zero, or less.
(Monty Python style) You have a soldier in the desert sitting at a John Cleese style desk attempting to interview aliens running past. They ignore him, or don't speak English. One has a vest with dynamite strapped to him. The soldier has a pen. He waves it at the wrong person who holds him at gunpoint.
Next, we see the soldier tied to a tree, and people are still running past and he is still trying to ask them questions.
Next, we see the soldier in a class similar to the "defending yourself with a piece of fruit" class, only the soldiers are being taught how to defend themselves with a ballpoint pen. "click on, click off, click on...", "flick the ink. Do it again!" And other silliness.
Later the soldier is tied again to the tree.
Closing statement... If you think this is silly, call your rep. Tell them don't let our soldiers protect our borders unarmed." Or something to that effect.
Thoughts?
Bravo~
I fear that it will take the death of one of our own to get them armed, heaven forbid.

US troops won’t be used to stop illegal immigration: US
US National Guard troops being sent to the Mexican border will be used to stem the flow of guns and drugs across the frontier and not to enforce US immigration laws, the State Department said Wednesday.

Still No Word on Troops to Texas-Mexico Border
Perry’s request goes ignored for more than a year
An earlier version of this report incorrectly stated that Arizona had received a response to its request for National Guard troops. However, the White House said it has not decided where along the southwest border the troops will be deployed. NBC DFW regrets the error.
National Guard troops will be headed to the U.S.-Mexico border, but Texas is still waiting for an official answer to its request for help.
President Barack Obama has agreed to send 1,200 National Guard troops to the U.S. border with Mexico. The White House said it has not decided where along the Southwest border, which includes parts of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, the troops will be deployed.
snip
Almost a year and a half after the first letter was sent, Perry hasn’t received an answer.
So why are there still so many people championing Sarah Palin as the next president, when she’s a real lightweight, watered-down version of the ral thing when compared to Jan Brewer?
I bet Jan will complete her full term as governor, and be elected to another. And I’ll be the first to jump on the Jan Brewer 2012 bandwagon.

Let’s think about this a minute. Arizona takes matters in their own hands and gets an unparalleled barage of negative comments from the White House, and now they’re sending in the National Guard. A last minute change of plans could have them taking over the statehouse under the pretext of insurrection, and declaring an emergency “election” enforced by union thugs for an Obama stooge. Am I being paranoid?
