Fox News Watch Cites FReeper Governsleast Item on Scarborough-Rand Paul-Maddow Flap
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/22/2010 1:08:04 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

On this weekend's Fox News Watch, panelist Jim Pinkerton cited FReeper governsleast's NewsBusters item in which Joe Scarborough passed along the comment from an unnamed conservative insider questioning "what the hell was [Rand Paul] doing on MSNBC?", a reference to Paul's appearance on the Rachel Maddow show in which he made comments on the 1964 Civil Rights Act that have caused controversy. The irony of course is that Scarborough is himself an MSNBC host. H/t NB reader Gat New York.

Pinkerton and fellow News Watch panelists got a chuckle out of governsleast's fond wish which concluded the item: "Oh to be an olive when Joe and Rachel sip martinis together at the MSNBC TGIF."

Well based on him choosing to go on MS-NBC immediately after his primary victory, I have great doubts that he will be any better for conservatives than McCain or Snowe or Graham or Collins. He will be for some maybe many things we support but infuriate us other times just like the other Rinos. He is clearly such an egotist he believes he can turn the hosts of MS-NBC shows into his “friends.”

This is not something that will irritates me so much, but Rand Pual supporters better be ready for the Libertarian position on immigration. Basically if you believe in minimalist government then you believe the that people who are willing to work should be allowed to go to where ever the work is. He loudly says on his website he is against amnesty, but he also might be in favor of allowing much more immigration than many here would like.

Are you dumb or just being intentionally dense? In case you haven't noticed yet, Rand Paul basically told "Meet the Press" to go screw themselves by canceling on them this Sunday. They have been tripping over themselves ever since about how he snubbed them and how it's only the third time in the show's 60 year history that a guest has snubbed them.

Can you name ANY other Republican who has done that to the press in recent memory?

We can say we knew you when!

Nice to get that coverage. I don’t think there’s an award big enough or important enough for your going above and beyond as our guy watching MSNBC.

I remember John McCain saying things about the NY Times after they smeared him in the campaign. He soon reverted. It is the Rino way. Maybe this Rino will learn and maybe he wont.

If he learns, maybe he can be an effective senator, if he can still win the election, and help the GOP stop the Obama agenda. But I suspect that he will still disappoint from time to time. Will he be as good as McCain has been? No way to know from this vantage point. Maybe.

As I have said, the GOP needs Rinos to get the majority and block the Obama agenda. It is just disappointing to get one from a conservative/GOP state like KY. Brown is probably the best we can do from MA. It is just disappointing at KY may have a Senator who just had to run to MS-NBC to run his Rino mouth just after victory.

I think Palin under the control of a Rino’s campaign ie McCain

No, I think it's well documented that Palin simply didn't know how partisan those people were.

Making a mistake doesn't make someone a RINO.

So you are claiming that Rino Paul ran immediately to MS-NBC after his primary victory by mistake, because he was ill informated? You imagine that the Rino shot his mouth off on MS-NBC because he was ill informed? HA.

He knew MS-NBC was anti GOP. But this Rino like all the Rinos thinks he transcends the GOP label. And besides he has the big ego that all these Rinos have and is sure he can bring the MSMediots around to his side. It wasnt a mistake is was quintessential Rino behavior.

I think you’re confused. The RINO was defeated. Rand Paul won.

The Rino revealed himself immediately after the election. He ran on MS-NBC because he knows from his days undercutting the GOP on the war on terror that the MSMediots really love him. The Rino knew they would treat him fairly so there he was on MS-NBC shooting of his Rino mouth.

Not me. I even hope this Rino nominated in KY gets elected. We need votes Rino or not to take back the Senate and stop the Obama agenda.

And this Rino like McCain, Graham etc will be good on some issue and terrible on others. It is the Rino way. He likely will continue to suck up to MSMediotss too. It is the Rino way.

Obviously you didn’t follow the Kentucky primary very closely. Grayson, the guy Paul defeated in the election, was well to his left on virtually every issue. He even ran ads attacking Paul for not supporting farm subsidies and government unemployment programs. And yet you call Paul the Rino...

Lindsey Graham is one of the few Republicans attacking Paul, BTW, over this whole Civil Rights Act thing. Another is David Frum.

It's strange that you keep placing him in their company when the reality seems to show they are at odds with each other.

I call Rand Paul a Rino because that is what he revealed himself to be immediately after the primary. He revealed himself to be a MSMediot attention seeking Rino ala McCain and Graham. Now maybe the choice was between two Rinos in KY, I do not OR CARE. The Rino that was nominated is the issue to me now.

Rinos disagree all the time. What makes a Rino a Rino is that they think by emphasizing their differences with the GOP they can buddy up to MSMediot members. That is classic Rand “Rino” Paul. They agree with the mediots that the GOP is unhip, but know in their hearts they are hip and know the mediots must recognize their specialness.

That several “teacher pets” will run each other down to the teacher does not make any of them not brown nosers or teachers pets. That one Rino will run down another to the MSMediots is the same behavior pattern.

This confirms that they care not what the source is, as long as their agenda is promoted by the content.

Why do we call them Whores?

Your argument doesn't even make sense. He won a big Senate primary that made the national news and made him the most talked about candidate of the night. It's not the least bit unusual that all the cable shows would call him up the next day for an interview, nor is it unreasonable that he would take their calls. That's usually the way elections work, JLS. Especially when it's a landslide or a big upset of the political establishment. Paul was both.

Yes, Madcow ambushed him. But unlike Graham and McCain, he stood his ground. And when Stephanopoulos tried to continue the same ambush, Paul went right back at him swinging. Then he told Meet the Press to go screw themselves when they tried to set up a similar ambush.

Those are not things McCain and Graham types would ever do. And if your only argument - as it seems to be - is that "Paul is a RINO because he went on MSM cable news" then it's not really much of an argument at all, because there is not a single member of the entire United States Congress no matter how conservative who doesn't go on MSM cable news at some point or another. In fact most of them jump at that opportunity. Paul is telling them no though, and that takes courage.

So I take it then you think the John McCain-Michael Steele-Lindsey Graham RNC is just fine and dandy? McCain and Graham don’t go on TV to attack the Republican Party establishment as “unhip.” They *are* the Republican Party establishment, and that is the problem.

” but like Scot Brown we might be wrong.”

.
There is no way we could have done any better than Brown in Mass. The state is full of retards that will vote for bread and circus til they die.

Paul’s Father has been one of the most conservative votes in congress in a century, so don’t expect him to be too much different. He will be solid on economic issues.
