Komen Giving to Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Down as Donations Drop
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The amount of money Komen for the Cure gives to the Planned Parenthood abortion business in grants declined from 2008-2009.
In addition, the donation totals Komen took in during the same time period is down and one pro-life advocate suggests it is because of Komen's ties to the abortion giant and its refusal to acknowledge that abortion increases the breast cancer risk for women.

Breast Cancer is devastating.
So is Prostate Cancer.
Where is the ribbon for the latter? The walk-a-thons? The rallys? The books?
I regret to say that I was unaware of the funding of Planned Parenthood and supported the Komen machine. That won’t happen again, and I will let them know.
After 0bama was elected, I told the Komen solicitors that they weren’t needed any more because President 0bama would take care of all of us. Guess I wasn’t the only one to do this. :-)
Lost my mom to breas cancer, now I don’t know who to support. what a travesty Kmen is in cohoots with the abortion nazis.
What a dumass decision for Komen to make. Breast Cancer is apolitical, everyone supports such research.
That the powers that be wanted to funnel some funds into such a hotbed...nutz.
There are still enough relentless feminazis around trying to wield that woman ‘power and rights’thing. And now they have become ‘sneaky’.
Geeze.
According to the National Cancer Institute stats for 2009:
Prostate cancer: new cases (192,280); deaths (27,360).
Breast cancer: new cases (194,280); deaths (40,610).
So it's not like prostate cancer doesn't deserve pretty much exactly the same effort to find a cure as breast cancer, but prostate cancer obviously isn't "PC" enough to warrant that effort.
Look for the local hospital with breast care centers. Many have screening vans they take to poorer neighborhoods and educational outreach programs. I donate directly to nonprofit hospitals to help with indigent care.

Just when I was about to buy that pink bucket of KFC....
You’re not alone. I didn’t know either. Another “charity” off my list.
Maybe this is bad, but I have been actively avoiding buying products that are pink and advertise that they are Komen supporters.
Komen is just a fund-rasing machine. They don’t do any kind of research themsleves. Give directly to those who do, or to other fund-raising groups.
Look into City of Hope, Avon, or any National Cancer Group.
I’m sorry about your mom. I myself am facing round two. and I insist nobody gives to Komen in my name.
NO, this is good.
MY daughters just announced they are off KFC for the duration.
Just remember though, Komen doesn’t “own” the color pink or the pink ribbon symbol. Look twice before you walk away.
The Komen people will tell you that they only support PP in their efforts to get Breast Cancer advocacy and prevention to the disenfranchised who they believe PP reaches. Komen claims their funding is ‘carefully monitored’ to insure it is being used only for its intended purpose.
To my mind that is a lot of crap. Once the funds are co-mingled, they are co-mingled.
PrincessB is right, donate directly to your choice of local hospital or two the cancer society directly without funneling your donation through Komen. Until they cease ALL funding and PUBLIBLY ACKNOWLEDGE/VALIDATE the Abortion - Breast Cancer link (Query Joel Brind on your favorite search engine and you will be presented with a flood of ABC research proof).
I mention the PP connection to a lot of women. Most are pro-abortion anyway and don't object, but I try to nudge them to become more informed. Here and there, a few may listen, especially if they hear it a few times from different people.
How about St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Hospital?
