Former NOAA oil spill cleanup boss says Obama waited too long in Gulf disaster
The Washington Examiner by Way of the Weekly Standard ^ | 5/2/10 | Mark Tapscott

Posted on 05/02/2010 7:19:47 PM PDT by dalight

Gouget told the Registe that NOAA officials at the Unified Command Center in Louisiana know how to respond to spills, and know burning should have started as soon as possible after the initial release was detected. He also speculated that they may have been prevented from doing so by higher officials.

"It may have been a political issue. The burn would make a big big plume and lots of soot. Like Valdez, the decisions to get the resources mobilized may not have occurred until it was too late," Gouget told the Register. "This whole thing has been a daily strip tease. At first they thought it was just the diesel, then they said the well wasn't leaking. It's unfortunate they didn't get the burning going right away. They could have gotten 90 percent of the oil before it spread."

This is most important news story of the day! The oil slick and all of the nightmares to come are now Obama's fault directly for blocking this burn until it was too late.

days after a muslim terrorist attack he says something
days after this oil spill he says something
his black friend gets arrested and he says something

I guess the white house, dinner, vacation to NC , put down AZ law and golf was taking too much time of his to say something

If you read this article, it turns out this guy don’t really know nothin’ ‘bout this particular situation. It’s full of caveats and “maybe”s.

I am not saying he may not be correct. But he doesn’t really have any definite information, just speculation.

Doesn’t matter. The mainstream media will always cover for Obama, simply because he’s an leftist African-American in a position of power. I worked in radio and print for 20 years; I know my former colleagues. You could have a photo of Obama with a lighter torching the oil platform himself and it wouldn’t matter. I was watching the NBC news tonight showing Obama at some dinner in Washington, D.C., cracking jokes with the rich and famous; not a peep from NBC about the president hanging with the trendy while fishermen lose their livelihoods and birds get covered with oil. I could almost write the script if Bush had been in the same situation, with the pained lines in the forehead of the newsreader leading into the story: “And while the disaster unfolds in Louisiana, critics are charging that the Bush administration didn’t do enough enforce regulations for off-shore drilling. The president chose instead to attend an official dinner and make light to the current situation. Here’s our White House correspondent...”

*sigh*

Have they got that thing capped or is it still spewing oil into the Gulf?

Don’t worry, Obama flew down there today and got all the fingers pointed in the right direction.

Wonderful.

If they could drill for oil and build the platform and get it up and running without causing an oil slick, then why can’t they cap it?

I haven’t heard beans about anyone trying to stop it from spewing. I’m presuming that someone would be working on that, but I also realize that that could be expecting a lot.

Read the commentary by the Weekly Standard folks below the excerpt. Looks like Obama folks are pointing fingers but not in the right direction.

And... Bush had Blank-o and Ray N. (Rat gov and mayor respectively) stonewalling efforts to kick evacuation, then rescue, into high gear. Barry had no such moronic obstacles to deal with (except his own staff).

This is the way technical professionals speak. The most telling fact is that they attempted a test burn 7 days after the spill began, and it was stated that by then the winds had shifted so that the smoke plume would go towards shore.. but honesly.. Oil Plume or Smoke Plume.. which would you pick?

This is as definitive as a guy like this is going to be. It is backed up by another post here where the first day NOAA is already attempting to respond, but nothing happened for more than a week. Why?
