MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A fire erupted at a downtown Memphis oil refinery, burning one person and sending a thick plume of smoke over the city.
Wayne Cook, a spokesman for the Memphis Fire Department, said a 29-year-old male was taken in critical condition Thursday to the Regional Medical Center with burns over 45 percent of his body.
Cook said the fire was fueled by a gasoline or diesel fuel originating from a pipeline at the refinery. The fire was reported under control by Thursday afternoon.
Cook said two other people were treated at the scene and released.
News helicopter footage from WMC-TV in Memphis showed a large flame erupting from part of the refinery being doused with several streams of water.

notice president’s language yesterday as opposed to his rhetoric blaming big mine owners and lax republican safety laws after the mine disaster
let’s hope if this is a coordinated attack on our energy infrastructure, “they” lay off the electric grid, Alaska pipeline, the gasoline storage and refineries, and the nuke plants

just a matter of time before someone in the oil industry “leaks” a real story about what happened and what is going on, on radio this morning they said oit would take up to 90 days to cap this gusher, the entire Gulf could be pretty bad by then

Well I looked up refinery explosions, before this year, there were 10 incidents in 29 years.
There have been 3 in April this year. Seems significant to me.
