Ariz. law 'an insult to American justice'

Chicago Democrat Luis Gutierrez, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, has been especially vocal.

The law makes it "open season on the Latino community in Arizona," Gutierrez said, describing it as "an insult to American justice and one of the harshest assaults on basic civil rights in recent American history."

In Arizona, "people in Latino neighborhoods are afraid to leave their houses, afraid to be apart from their children for even a minute, and afraid to walk the streets because they feel their arrest on suspicion of being an undocumented immigrant could happen at any moment," he wrote in an online op-ed piece.

Gutierrez plans to attend a rally in Phoenix on Sunday to "let the people of Arizona know that they are not alone in fighting against bigotry and hatred."

I would like to see all illegals rounded up and deported or imprisoned, the border completely sealed, and an armed response to anyone who tries to recross illegally.

They are already here in the north. You will find them in the darndest places if you know where to look. From the greenhouses, to the garden centers, to the plumber you may have hired last week to snake out the drain, to the McDonald’s you bought lunch at last week, or your neighbor’s babysitter. Don’t kid yourself and don’t fool yourself.

It took me 4 attempts to find a contractor that was “All American.” I am still looking for that plumber who is “All American.” I make no bones about it.

In Arizona, "people in Latino neighborhoods are afraid to leave their houses, afraid to be apart from their children for even a minute, and afraid to walk the streets because they feel their arrest on suspicion of being an undocumented immigrant could happen at any moment,"

Well, all you need is to show the authorities a birth certificate or a green card. You know, like the President ought to do?

If the feds had any integrity at all they would re-institute Eisenhower’s 1954 “Operation Wetback”, a program by which a million illegals were rounded up, put on ships, trains and buses and deported back to Mexico. This one program put such fear in the wetback that an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 of them fled back to Mexico on their own before they could be rounded up.

When is it going to be “open season” here in Texas? and what is the bag limit?

What’s this about their “rights” being violated?

There is no “right” to trespass.

There is no “right” to wilfully avoid going through a sovereign country’s border checkpoints, just because you feel like it.

And there is no “right” to stay in that country when you have come in by that method.

Rights??

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

State and local law enforcement officials have the general power to investigate and arrest violators of federal immigration statutes without prior INS knowledge or approval, as long as they are authorized to do so by state law. There is no extant federal limitation on this authority. The 1996 immigration control legislation passed by Congress was intended to encourage states and local agencies to participate in the process of enforcing federal immigration laws. Immigration officers and local law enforcement officers may detain an individual for a brief warrantless interrogation where circumstances create a reasonable suspicion that the individual is illegally present in the U.S. Specific facts constituting a reasonable suspicion include evasive, nervous, or erratic behavior; dress or speech indicating foreign citizenship; and presence in an area known to contain a concentration of illegal aliens.

Took the words right out of my mouth cc. What is with all of this “rights” business??

It’s a sign of the times and how far this Country has slid, when we are seriously discussing the “rights” of criminals and illegal infiltrators who have crossed the border illegally. Instead of treating them like the foreign criminals they are, we are granting them full citizenship if they can simply evade the Border Patrol.

Look at the Somali pirates we captured in the Indian Ocean...they are in Federal Court in New York beginning trial for piracy. How exactly do you put a Foreign National on trial in our legal system?? Their crimes were not committed on US soil, technically they are not subject to US Law, or even eligible for protection under our Constitution, because they are NOT “We the People”.

The “Reasonable Man Theory” says they all belong in Club Gitmo and should be tried by a Tribunal, but we threw the RMT in the trash in November 2008....

Part of the problem is that we have had such horribly inconsistent standards for decades now, about who is and who is not in the Country illegally. For example, if you are Cuban and are intercepted by the Coast Guard while you are still in the water, you are going straight home to Fidel. However, if you can get your feet on dry land, you have just earned a special refugee status and you can stay.

Granted, Mexico presents particular problems because we share a border with them while we do not with Cuba. Mexicans who are here illegally are committing one hell of a lot more serious crimes of all descriptions, than the thousands of illegal Irish who are here as well.

With all of that said, I fully expect the Regime to listen to guys like Gutierrez and use them as the ramrod to grant blanket amnesty to every illegal who is here right now, make them all instant Citizens, register them all as Democrats, and give them all healthcare insurance. We’ll also solve most of Mexico’s unemployment problem because we will just add them to the existing unemployment rolls.

Think you had a bellyful stuffed down your gullet this year already??

“You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.”

I’m not sure this overcomes the other works by the governor that I dislike. She had to sign the law if she wanted to have any hope of being the republican nominee for governor, especially given the hysteria on the left. We do our part, keeping an eye on the trails across the ranch we live on, stopping the illegals when we can catch them and calling them in to the local border patrol if we cannot.

The real insult to American justice is the fact that all the illegals have been allowed to come here in violation of our laws and in so many cases have been given a free ride and other illegal acts committed by them overlooked. That is a real insult to America and American justice.
