Somehow I can’t take this trend very seriously. We have much more to fear from our debt than that we will go to war to protect our ‘empire.’ There is no American empire - just a whole lotta countries we’ve agreed to protect. We never should have allowed our allies to stop protecting themselves. And it’s certainly time to ratchet back on this kind of activity.

In my mind, war is a coming due to lack of American leadership and the instability created. This failure in America will bring the west down and throw the world into turmoil. Not a doubt.

The greatest and most active open threat is Iran who is feverishly working at developing weapons expressly for democracy, a product of the “west”. In the meanwhile, Obama is pursuing his do nothing, let my brothers do what they need philosophy. Actually, he has done more through disarming America, thereby compounding their probability of success.

So there is no doubt.
We are at risk.

If this crap keeps up, I am moving to the last great defender of Western Democracy.... Israel!

"There are many scenarios that can play out in the future, including hyperinflationary meltdown of our currency, a slide into a severe deflationary depression, or a peak oil driven economic collapse, but the long-term trend, the end result of any of these dire scenarios, is one that has been proven time and again throughout history: war."

Rather its political war or international war, economic or social collapse, or just Mother Nature showing off her might we are right on the edge of a SHTF event and it won’t take much to push us over.

Guns, ammo, food and a plan are call for.

The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
Proverbs 27:12

If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and
especially for his immediate family, he has
denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

I didn’t use to follow Celente. I didn’t use to follow a lot of things. A collapse of the US economy due to debt would leave a vaccuum and cause countries and regions to revert to type.

I would not have thought the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand would have led to a World War either, let alone what has occurred in Poland now (which has impacted more people & power in that country—and elsewhere, IMHO).

Kissinger called the last half of the 20th century (anyway) Pax Americana. Whoever rules the seas, and now, space, rules the world. The policies of the present Administration appear to be ceding space—at least.

......We have much more to fear from our debt than that we will go to war to protect our ‘empire.’ ....

I read nothing about protecting an empire. The man said the politicians will go to war to save their own hides while distracting from the real problems.

“Out of fear and self preservation, politicians will respond the only way they know how: blame someone else. In this case, it will be not be finger pointing at each other, but rather, they will collectively point their fingers at other nations, and those nations’ leaders will subsequently point their finger at us.”

Obama is going down and the only to save his sorry ass is to have a war.

As Celente points out, it has not been out of the question for governments, including the US government, to take our nation to war based on fabrications such as the Gulf of Tonkin, which ignited the Vietnam war and cost the lives of 58,000 American soldiers and left hundreds of thousands wounded. Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was another pretext to war, pushed heavily by the Bush administration, with the mission quickly changing to “making the world a better place” once it was learned that no WMD existed.

I was a little worried until I figured out that this guy is one of those Alex Jones New World Order lunatics. Ever hear of 911, Gerald? There IS a lot to worry about, and there may well be economic chaos and war, but it will be because committed Marxists running our government do stupid things that lead to it, not because the US responded to 911 by fighting back against the strongest ally of the terrorists, nor because the US fought totalitarian communists in Vietnam in an admittedly stupid way.

Is Celente a truther? He's certainly no conservative and no one to pay attention to, sounds more like Larouche.

I’m certainly preparing for the worst. I’d accept economic collapse as the likely problem. But we won’t start another war in order to maintain something we don’t have. H*ll, there was an article posted earlier questioning whether we’d shoot down Israeli planes if they tried to attack Iran. Of course, China has 30 million men it doesn’t need. If I was Russia or Iran, I’d be worrying about them. But I don’t think even the Chi-coms will come after us at this point in time.

Obama has already declared war with the American people. His war is staged between those who have and the have nots.

He's declared war on the Health Care Industry, Pharma, energy and wall street.

He should be declaring a war with Mexico if they don't quit invading our country...He's too much of a coward to go after our real enemies.

Protecting the 'empire' is not the reason for Celente's prediction. His reasoning is that the more and more upset the electorate becomes with its elitist, self-serving government officials and their destructive actions against its middle class citizens, the closer we move towards seeing violence and upheaval occur within this nation, with the parasitic politicians fearing for their political (and literal) lives.

They know the only way to take the country's mind and focus off of how they are screwing us, is for the government to "invent" a perceived enemy that they can redirect the nation's anger towards (and away from the scum politicians), by declaring war against that enemy. Time will tell if Celente is correct or not, but knowing how godless and amoral our current government leaders are, I cannot discount Celente's contention that they would stoop to such evil to save their own slimy skin.

They could do that before because they could control the information we received. We are on to them. They do not control the information we receive. Just like this deal with Goldman-Sachs. They come out with this lawsuit like they are the white knights fighting the evil dragon. Within days, everyone knows the lawsuit is a sham.

Besides, we’re already so angry at them that they will have a hard time getting our focus onto something else. I certainly know who my enemy is!

I understand your thoughts, but do you think it might at least be concievable, if our elist parasitic politicians became alarmed enough to think that their political lives and power-mongering over the citizens were in danger of being lost, that some of them (think Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc.) would take drastic action to preserve their illgotten gains by quickly coming up with a reason to, say start a war with Iran?

Russia withdrew from WWI for 'internal reasons'. Just saying.

The White Russians and Menscheviks ended up massacred after that occurred.

Ask yourself... On which side most of the people on FR would fall in the binary choice between allegiance to Menscheviks or Bolsheviks?

“...by quickly coming up with a reason to, say start a war with Iran?”

Only if Iran did something first, like toss a nuke at Israel or assist a terror attack within our borders. But Barack would have a hard time making a case for war, given his posturing this last couple of years. I still don’t believe the majority of Americans will let him get away with another Tonkin Gulf incident.

Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was another pretext to war, ...

Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was not a "pretext".

Saddam Hussein had chemical weapons. He proved he had them; he used them, and was hanged for using them.

The only real question can be "Where did he hide the ones he didn't use?".
