I have said repeatedly that this was not the government's finest hour, and that the Clinton administration may have violated the letter of Posse Comitatus, and certainly violated the spirit of the Act. If the after-action investigation had been better, and more aggressive, prosecution under PC may have been successful. But, things would have been MUCH worse if it were not for some active-duty Army officers (who are members of the government) who pushed back against Clinton Justice Department, rightfully so.
Also, the most deceit came from the ATF securing training from themselves from JTF-06. They plainly lied to secure that training and made it appear that they were involved in drug-interdiction, which they clearly weren't. Such a element to the investigation/raid would have allowed the training that the ATF agents received.
Finally, the fact of the matter is despite the horrific flaws of Clinton's administration in it's pursuit of this case, the DNA evidence was fully conclusive - David Koresh was a pedophile who fathered a number of children born to underage mothers. He is no hero of the right, nor is he a Christian. The defense of Koresh and his group - who fully enabled his predilections - is distasteful. In short, the investigation, and the execution of the search warrant was highly unprofessional, but history has proven that many of the allegations and suspicions of state and federal officials were merited.
Thank you for your apology.
It sounds like you are saying the 'ends' justify the 'means'.
I appreciate your acceptance of my apology. I did confuse two aspects of the story. I used to have a huge bookmark of links on Waco and OKC but never got them transferred from an old computer. I now find that a huge percentage of those old websites have been removed from the web. They were not a bunch of flaky websites either. That, and lots of other things being scrubbed from the net, are a disturbing occurrence in and of itself IMO.
I also appreciate your recognition (limited as it is) that the gov acted "poorly." I would call it "illegally" and the cover up supported by Clinton, Reno and certain members of Congress was also illegal, or at least highly immoral, IMO.
