Please elaborate.

I was overseas in a third world location when the final assault took place and both I and some of the locals were watching CNN and were astonished to see tanks in use against civilians. I thought there was a law about that sort of thing.

It was the Posse Comitatus Law that was enacted after the Civil War and was repealed by Texan, George W. Bush...

There is. “Posse Comitatus” forbids use of American troops against civilian populations. If they got away with that then
what do you think they’d do now? (Posse etc. means “Power of the County”. Little known fact but as ex-deputy ex-cop I learned the County Sheriff, unless otherwise provide by an amendment, has complete legal power in the County he’s elected to. Trivia: County Sheriff only one with power to arrest a sitting Governor.
