Miss Great Britain To Let In Single Mums and Divorcees For The First Time 11th April 2010

Hopeful: Rachel Hatton, a 27-year-old divorcee [Pic in URL] and single mum. Single mothers and divorcees will be allowed to enter the Miss Great Britain beauty contest this year for the first time in its 65-year history. Organiser Liz Fuller, a former winner, said: ‘Beauty pageants have been stuck in the past. They were run by men and their rules were to fulfil the typical male fantasy that beautiful young girls had to be virginal.

‘I want to make Miss Great Britain relevant to today’s society. Though I’m not one to encourage divorce nor single motherhood, I accept this is increasingly part of the modern way of life and I didn’t want to discriminate.’ A former communications specialist in the Army is the first divorcee to take advantage of the change in rules. Rachel Hatton, 27, was married for three years until her divorce in 2007 and left the Army last year. She is now hoping to become a professional model. She said: ‘My childhood ambitions were to represent my country as a model soldier and to be a beauty ambassador. I have achieved the first and now I am aiming to fulfil my other dream.’

Is she wearing one of those bearskin hats like the guards at Buckingham Palace?

It sort of takes away the reason for the contest, doesn’t it? Now virtue, innocence and talent are no longer prized! Just pulchritude, failure and unmarried sex replace more Gopdly behavior? According to ABC, other network shows, let alone unscrupulouis cable shows have taken the place of character, self discipline and honest accomplishment! I will soon be cancelling cable, do not plan to replace the old tv set when it gives out.

“Now virtue, innocence and talent are no longer prized!”

So women strutting around in tiny bikinis, high heels, and way too much makeup while being judged by men is about demonstrating their ‘innocence’ and ‘virtue’?

Well, you certainly nave a point there. But other things used to be required in the beauty contests besides and including looks. I remember when one p9ece bathing suits were the norm. We are quickly approaching the bottom of the trash heap today.

British teeth are not as bad as the stereotype makes out.

Too many sweet tooths, but the idea that every Brit has a mouthful of rotting teeth is nonsense. As credible as Jews with big noses or blacks with thick lips.

I always thought it was more crooked (and *maybe* yellowed) teeth rather than rotting that's the stereotype.

They were still pretty cool. Did they use a special turn signal relay?

You know perfecyly well that the sequential in the tail lights was for the turn signals. Happy now?

Yes I know, I wasn't trying to continue dig at you. I was curious as to how they made the sequential tail light work. Typically there is a single relay for the all the turn signals and flashers. Was the front turn signal on it's own relay? How was the rear turn signal done, with a separate special flasher relay or a multiple series of relays.
