GM is currently majority-owned by the United States Government (and by the Canadian Crown). If that’s not socialism, there is no such thing on the face of the earth.
The takeover of GM was an act of punishment under a system of fascism.
Fascism and corporatism can be defined using many of the same terms.
I prefer to consider Obama not a socialist but as a Fascist, (capital F), and the reason being the key difference between the classical definition of socialism , and the current fascism, ,,
socialism is about the “utilitarian good of the people as a collective”, and so far Obama has not shown that, instead he has perpetrated a policy of the “utilitarian good of the intertwined corporate and political elite”...
Fascists are... Corporatists who have been shown insolence by the corporate and banking elite. Flip side of same coin.
That coin doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Marxist Socialism beyond the extent of keeping the consumption class consuming and keeping the lower classes in chains in the Cave arguing over the flickering shadows on the walls.
Ron Paul makes similar arguments but I can’t discuss his arugments as I haven’t read much about his low opinion of Obama and the Wall Street fleecing in the last 2 years since he exited the primaries.
actually it is more accurate to call him a fascist, in the classic sense. There is certainly a mixture of textbook definitions of socialism and fascism in fedgov and the obama admin in particular.
Ron Paul doesn't like to criticize Democrats.
Yep. The government via Barney Frank wrecked the credit markets. No car loans, no car sales. When GM was reeling, rather than allowing bankruptcy that would void the UAW contracts or providing government loans contingent on a recovery plan including voiding the UAW contracts, Obama nationalized GM and handed control over to the same union thugs that ruined it over four decades. Only someone completely delusional could label Obama as favoring business.
