From what I am hearing about the UK and its economy, she was smart to leave. She will eat and miss a lot of upcoming social unrest.

Friends in colleg married fellow students from Saudi Arabia and Iran. Big mistake for both women.
This sounds like more of the same.

Reminds me of that awesome movie starring Oliver Reed called, ‘The Trap’.

I’m happy for her. Anyone who can date someone for 3 years w/o physical contact probably truly loves the person. I hope the relationship lasts.

Maybe, she’ll modernize them. The children will certainly be curious and ask her about the world she comes from. Some may want to go see it for themselves.

Sparse: Colette with Meitkini, left, and the Masai chief, right, whose tribe have no possessions and no running water
Shoulda chosen the chief, that way she gets a bigger hut. Plus he is better looking.

Nothing new. I read about thirty years of a European woman who married a Kenyan and was living in a mud hut with him.
What ever turns you on baby! But don’t come crying back to the civilized world!

Let’s revisit this issue after the rainy season. She is 24 years old. Most women go through a mid-life style crisis between 26-35 ( media never covers it) We will see when she comes down with blackwater if its all stars and unicorns.

Oh, this is a hoot! It makes me think of the movie Sleeper, when Woody Allen kidnaps the modern woman and she can’t handle roughing it by the campfire. “I haven’t had a bath in hours!”
I wonder how much she will appreciate childbearing.... “Check, please!”

I have seen the Masai up close and personal, and have a great deal of respect for them. If she has no pie in the sky Utopia dreams, and remains open to learning about the entire Masai world, she will have a happy, though possibly shorter life. When there is lots of rain life is good. When its too dry , it is not so good, and really tough on women and children.
Kudos to her for learning to live life in an ancient warrior tradition. The weak could never accomplish such a thing.

I’ve thought about getting out of here and joining the Masai myself. I’m good enough with archery equipment that I’m fairly certain they’d overlook me being the wrong color...
