A lot of Francophones resented Anglophone Canadians for not making the effort to go beyond high-school French (which, BTW is Parisian French, not Quebec French). They were, none to subtly, making a point.

OTOH, they genuinely appreciate any attempts by Americans to speak their language & they don't resent you for not speaking French.

Copper turns black in the presence of Chicom Drywall. Here are some photos of corrosion on household surfaces:

A few of my co-workers had to deal with problems in wiring because of it. A few kept going over to Saint’s coach Payton’s house due to complaints about trouble in some of the lines. Had to tell the guy his brand new wiring was completely worthless and needed to be replaced. Shortly after they found out drywall was the problem.

Unfortunately, it looks like the problem can migrate from the drywall, to the studs, and even into the concrete. There are those that say that some of these homes may have to be demolished. No one quite knows for sure what the main cause is. There are other factors in parts of florida, where the well water that is commonly used, also has alot of H2S..

Bulldoze the 3,000 homes...Then the owners can sue the greedy that wanted to import this crap for more profit...

They want to deal with the Communist Chinese? They asked for it.

I return defective Chinese windshields to my distributors constantly. We do everything we can to not use Chinese glass, but in some cases, there is no other alternative.

The answer to your question: Because it is cheap.

Sometimes cheaper is not better. Sometimes cheaper is hazardous to your health.

Thanks for that information. I wonder if it smelled that bad when they first put it up? Or did it have to “age” somehow before it began to stink? Smelly Chinese drywall installed by illegals, hired by a contractor who’s long gone “in the wind”! Gosh, how did America fall apart?(sarc)

Unfinished drywall is marked. If your drywall is covered over with mud and paint, you might try obtaining a copy of the contractor’s invoice for the wallboard. The problem with composition in at least some products might be overages of cellulose rather than sulfur. As for American producers, check documents from lawsuits against National Gypsum (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific Corp (Atlanta, Georgia).

U.S.-made drywall also being investigated

I avoid wallboard and most other products from China and our east coast.

Your homeowners insurance will probably be negated if you don’t change this stuff out.

It’s true. This drywall emits up to 100 times the amount of hydrogen sulfide as regular drywall.

It figures that if the Chinese would ship over kids’ jewelery made with toxic metals, they’d ship over drywall that would poison us. They’re exploiting our weakness .... our insatiable demand for lots of stuff as cheaply as possible.

“Just how do they plan to even identify this stuff?”

Its not really that hard, look around for the corrosion. If in doubt cut a hole and look for the label. Most of the builders just bought drywall and didn’t really know where it was from. Lanar homes has budgeted $100k for each house containing this drywall.

What I want to know is how you can ship drywall from china cheaper than it can be made in the US.

Unions?

You bet. I expect to see 3,000 law suits directed at the AHs importing and using this tainted garbage.

I WON’T BUY ANYTHING THAT TOUCHES FOOD WHICH IS “MADE IN CHINA.”

I try to not buy anything made in China; but WHO in the world can trust anything they make to touch food?

NOW, THIS. Is anyone surprised?
