MCALLEN - The FBI has stepped in to investigate an attack on a Border Patrol agent.
The agent has serious - but not life-threatening - injuries. We're told there may be some permanent damage to the agent's face. He's now recovering at a San Antonio hospital.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned the attack happened while the agent was on narcotics patrol along the river last night. He was in an area near the city of Hidalgo when he came across a group of suspected smugglers.
Border Patrol officials say the men hurled objects at the agent and then swam into Mexico. The drugs were left behind.
FBI agents are trying to find out if a rock caused the injuries.
"It hit him in the cheek area causing a laceration and possible bone damage," says Joe Trevino, a Border Patrol spokesperson. "The agent is fine. He's in San Antonio getting treatment."
He adds, "It goes to show the desperate measures. But of course to no avail because we ended up with the narcotics anyway."

I guess Texas isn't what it used to be. Sad.

BP ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
Prayers for the agent and his family.
Was he attacked by Mexican Tea Party Members?
“Where are all those Texans I have heard so much about? You folks lost the will to take care of this situation on the border?
I guess Texas isn’t what it used to be. Sad. “
I think you know that a US citizen isn’t even allowed to ask an alien if he is an alien without being in trouble. Citizens who try to control the onslaught on their property loose it in court to the aliens.
Or they are murdered.

Dammit this is war!
“Yeah but your Governor can put the Texas National Guard on the border and tell them not to shoot first but to shoot back.
Dammit this is war! “
Yes, Ben, it is war. Another one we refuse to acknowledge.
Perry has asked for national guard, and ignored. One would think he would put his own down there if he were serious.
Where’s the Texas Rangers when we need ‘em??
The bottom line is that the Border Patrol is going to have to engage in a shooting war on the border. We can thank the Washington politicians who have refused to harden the borders and by doing so have collaborated with illegal aliens.
People smugglers and drug smugglers, it made no difference to our open borders politicians. George W. Bush absolutely refused to close the borders and worked to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. He did not change that policy even after 9/11. Only God knows how many Muslim jihadists have crossed our borders.
Now the Mexican drug cartels have upped the ante. Our governmet has and is projecting weakness. That is like waving a red flag in front of a bull and the drug smugglers are shooting people and chopping off the heads of some of their victims.
I blame the American Government for allowing this to happen. The deaths that will be occuring from now on are the result of the deliberate lack of action of the American Government.
I agree - if the illegals come in and act violently, then take them down. When you get a good size stack of bodies, load them in a C-130 and fly them down to Mexico City where the pallets of corpses are pushed out the back of the aircraft to strategically “land” on the Mexican Capitol grounds.
Enough already.
Uh, Ben - it’s the Feds who do border control.
Nothing gets past the FBI
My solution to the problem is the Texas Rangers. At their founding, they routinely took care of Mexican Criminals harassing Texans.
As was noted on this forum earlier, the Rangers have morphed into an investigative agency, but the old form could easily be revived. Large numbers of men could be deputized as Rangers and put to work killing intruders as did the Rangers of old.
There is a large pool of trained men..... the Texas National Guard. If the Guard members were deputized as Rangers, they would lose all trace of Federal Military posse comitas taint and act at the Governor’s orders.
You are happy blaming the Feds while Texas citizens are being killed? Not a very Conservative viewpoint in my opinion.
I hadn’t thought of it this way before, but it is another case of “they were at war with us, but we weren’t at war with them”.
