Same aboard both of the vessels I served on. The most petty, conniving, butt-kissers became MAA’s. They were the wussy boys who got picked on when they were kids. I am not kidding.

Thank you both for your service to our country in the US Navy! Your description of the MAA's makes me think of the 'political officer' on board the Russian sub in The Hunt For Red October. Who in the h*ll created a position like this in the US armed forces?!
