If the government enforced the border there wouldn’t be
illegals.
That’s like saying people who take drugs shouldn’t be punished because the government did nothing to stop the pushers. STUPID argument, my friend. But I’m curious to see how far you’re going to defend it.
Is it the nothing-can-be-done crowds assumption that the fellows who run armies of the undocumented from Mexico into America are just kindhearted human smugglers whod have nothing to do with jihad even if the price was right?
Mark Steyn
That is correct but not relevant to suggesting that enforcing laws on businesses that break the law hiring illegals is not legal.
All things have to be done, enforce borders, punish businesses and of course deport illegals.
People who say we can’t round up 20 million ilegals are correct but IF we don’t give gthem jobs and services they will leave. States and cities that enforce do have a decline in illegals.
“If the government enforced the border there wouldnt be
illegals.”
Untrue. 1/3rd of the illegals came here legally and then overstayed their visas. It isn’t just a borders issue.
If we ever seal the borders, those people spending $5,000 on a coyote to smuggle them across will instead save more money, wait for a tourist visa, then come here and disappear into the population.
The illegal immigrant issue cannot be solved at the borders. The borders should be closed up for security reasons, but it will barely slow the illegals who are here for work and welfare reasons. To get them to stop coming, you need to turn them away when they apply for a job, when they try to rent housing, when they try to open bank accounts, when they try to put their kids in school, when they show up for medical treatment, when they are arrested for petty crimes, etc.
If you say employers should not be held to account, then the only other method for finding and deporting these illegals is police and ICE raids on every single business every single week. Because if you don’t punish even those businesses that are caught, they’ll refill those positions with more illegals the very next day. Either honest Americans in every sector of the economy cooperate with the law, or the law has to do all the work itself, resulting in a police state.
