I’d be very surprised to see that. Wait until they try to make money doing a real job. Besides, the only thing stopping us from having more doctors is a shortage of medical schools. We certainly have an excess of people who want to be doctors. It would be easy enough to double the number of medical schools in this country, if the government authorized it.
But that’s not the real problem, though it would help. Why not make it easier to get medical help without going to a doctor, which most countries in the world do? When you get sick in the Philipines, or Mexico, or Thailand, you go to the local pharmacy and buy the medicine you need. The pharmacist provides assistance. You don’t have to go to the doctor. Besides, half the time we already know what we need. It’s for the same thing we had last time.
May I suggest we start calling them Rep. and Senator “Babykiller” So-and-So.
They call us raaaaacists, we call them Babykillers. As their middle name.
For example, Representative Bart “Babykiller” Stupak.
Also, from now, let’s not call it health care, but let’s call it CRAP CARE.
Color me “mean” but I have little to no sympathy for some of the people who are going to be severely impacted by this legislation.
I do feel sorry for those of us on FR, who are engaged citizens and who fought the good fight, and to the people with little schooling and/or intelligence who have not been able to follow political developments. But as to those who could have understood what was going on and chose not to, well, I harken back to the proclamation of Pericles. This Greek philosopher said it best: “Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.”
Obama agreed on Sunday to sign an executive order to reaffirm the Senate bill's "consistency with long-standing restrictions on the use of federal funds for abortion." But pro-life groups say the executive order does not carry the force of a law and will do nothing to curb the provision in the bill they believe will allow taxpayer dollars to cover the procedure. "The president cannot amend a bill by issuing an order, and the federal courts will enforce what the law says," the National Right to Life Committee said.
Obama lied to a joint session of Congress when he claimed that abortion would not be federally funded in his plan. He wouldn't need to "correct this" if it was already there.
Obama also lied as there has not yet been a new Executive Order signed.
You are not losing your freedom...it is being taken away.
Even though they might neither need nor want that insurance - nice friend of liberty you make. It's apparently ok with you to shaft half of the populace.
5. Four Million people will lose their employer-based plans: may be good since I want health insurance to be totally independent of employers.
Cancelling the tie between employers and health insurance is a reasonable position for a conservative, but the approach to tie it even tighter to the government than it was to the employer is not. It would have been a lot easier and cheaper to just give everybody or nobody the same tax status for insurance payments.
6. Medicare will cut services and costs: this has got to happen one way or another regardless of the new healthcare plan unless were to become a soggy welfare state.
Maybe Medicare needs to be cut because it's a financial nightmare, but how is that a reason to put every citizen into the same mess?
You are simple. On one side you are saying that Medicare needs to be cut because it don't have enough money for all, yet on the other side you are ok with a plan that forces insurance companies to have no limits on coverage. If government can't manage that, why do you think insurance companies can?
And then there's the criminal position of allowing folks to buy 'insurance' after the event. This just rips off the folks who bought insurance before the need and built up the insurance reserves. Once again, government punishes folks dumb enough to have saved or who otherwise actually prepared for the future.
That's 16,500.
That was a tongue-in-cheek reply. I was against the bill and hope it can be repealed or altered. Make sure you read this Mark Steyn article: http://article.nationalreview.com/428996/tattered-liberty/mark-steyn
165,000, 16,500: Same kind of math errors they make in their health care cost calculations, in the other direction!
