Tea Party protesters refused entry into congressional buildings
Washington Examiner ^ | 03/20/10 3:15 PM EDT | Mark Hemingway

Posted on 03/20/2010 12:41:33 PM PDT by Former Military Chick

As part of today's rally to stop the Democrats' health care reform legislation thousands of protesters descended on the lawn of Capitol building. But many more were also using the occasion to visit the their congressional representative and tell them what they think of the bill.

However, Capitol Police recently stopped allowing any of the peaceful protesters to enter into congressional buildings. Crowds are now gathering in front of the House and Senate offices, demanding that they be let in to air their constituent concerns.

Thank you SO MUCH for doing it! It would take me about 5 days to drive there. Literally. I can’t afford the cost of air-fair for the next day.... I wish to heck I did!

Still, I was on the edge of my seat all day. Not watching the news, just waiting for real on the spot reports. THANK YOU for being a art of the story, YOU might well have changed history today! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for sharing your after hours account from the Kill the Bill/Tea Party rally today. It was very uplifting!

(I emailed it to my family and friends and asked that they send prayers at 11:00 AM EST as well.)

I so wish I could have been there! It sounds like it was a fantastic day.

Most Americans have already paid their taxes through the withholding system over the entire year. This system has very successfully enlisted every above-ground U.S. employer as a defacto federal tax collector. You have to give the extortionists their due: When the withholding system was designed, it was precisely because they knew they could not leave it in the hands of the average American to pay tribute to the federal government. To dismantle withholding you would need to enlist the cooperation of every business in America along with as many state legislatures as possible to support repeal of the withholding statute. With the current officeholders in the U.S Congress, any such push would die a quick death. If American workers max out their withholding allowances en masse, causing no money to be withheld by employers, they would immediately become liable for delinquent estimated tax payments which carry severe penalties for nonpayment. In order for this strategy to work, it would require the cooperation of a critical mass of American workers, probably in the tens of millions one would guess. And it’s not clear that we have that many citizens prepared to take on the IRS with all of the damage that agency could inflict on one’s private life. National tax disobedience is a strategy deserving some serious study as to how best to implement and successfully prosecute such an action on a large scale with any chance of success, without causing thousands of Americans having to risk prosecution and possible arrest by federal authorities. There would probably have to be a coordination of other types of disobedience with the tax disobedience and it would probably require the assistance of the U.S. military. Also we would not want to completely starve the feds as they do have, among others, the legitimate functions of national security and the safeguarding of competition in private markets.

“We’re back at our hotel room watching C-SPAN... Diane Watson (D-CA Los Angeles) just spoke - live - on the house floor about how the protestors today (Tea Partiers) used the “N” word, spat on her fellow members, “ranted and raved” and basically did other “despicable things”. THIS IS BS... IT’S A LIE!”

They can never prove, nor disprove this, so they’ll just LIE...I sure hope no one on our side is so stupid - but we know RATS lie. That’s the first step in their m.o.

“I’m way the hell weary and I’ve long since lost heart, but by God I’ll go down fighting. It was a damn long day, but there were so many people on the Hill, even if they don’t acknowledge us, they knew we were there. I got to shake Jon Voight’s hand and tell him how happy I was to know there were still patriots in Hollywood.”

It doesn’t sound like you’ve lost heart! It sounds like you were energized by today.

Thank you.

I LOVE this part!

“Between 6:30-7:00pm Congessman Steve King (R-IA) came down the House steps and began speaking to the crowd thru a bullhorn, firing up the crowd and explaining that on the third floor up above us the House Rules Committee was meeting and could hear our chanting and that we were bothering them... LOL. The crowd roared ever louder, egged on by Rep. Steve King (he is fantastic, by the way!”

Thank you for participating and for this good update.

I totally respect that man! He has been fighting illegal immigration for years. He and Joe Arpiao would make a GREAT team together - along with Tancredo!

“We closed tonight’s impromptu rally (”impromptu” because we didn’t expect to hear from any Congressmen at this later rally) on the steps of the House in the dark (it was after 8pm) by saying The Lord’s Prayer - yes, a PRAYER on the House steps!. We also said the Pledge of Allegiance and Rep. Steve King led us in singing “God Bless America”.

Steve King told us that Congressmen (I think it may be mostly the Republicans) are having a prayer service with their families in the Capitol Rotunda tomorrow, Sunday, at 11am. He said this would be the first time a prayer service was held there in over 100 years.”

Wow, just Wow!

I’m watching Geraldo & as I was reading your post, The Huckster & Sharpton were deriding the “racist” & “homophobic” epithets that they say the crould was yelling @ the entering Congresscritters.

Even if it’s true, and I suspect it is not, I’m beyond caring, they have been calling anyone who is not 1000% supportive of Obama racist for so long it rolls right off my back when I hear it now... this dog stopped hunting.

Steve King was wonderful. One person even threw her arms around him to thank him and he laughed and hugged back. A truly neat guy.

Wow! Thanks for the report, nutmeg. Maybe we all should take that time and join them for a prayer no matter where we are.

I wonder why all the ‘Tea Party Participants’ are called “Radicals” and “Extreme Right Wingers”. Why can’t they hear the people? Are we not yelling LOUD enough? Do the polls not say anything that they can hear?

Nasty Nancy is in seventh heaven tonight - she is orgasmic over her confidence of the passing of this bill tomorrow. I hope she is in for a shock, when WE THE PEOPLE tell her “sorry”. “We have a ‘headache where you and your people are concerned.” .........Maybe next year?

The media and some Hollywierd elite have referred to all of us as such.. in their minds you are with O or you’re a racist. Convoluted, I know, but I never could understand a liberal mind.
