Tea Party protesters refused entry into congressional buildings
Washington Examiner ^ | 03/20/10 3:15 PM EDT | Mark Hemingway

As part of today's rally to stop the Democrats' health care reform legislation thousands of protesters descended on the lawn of Capitol building. But many more were also using the occasion to visit the their congressional representative and tell them what they think of the bill.

However, Capitol Police recently stopped allowing any of the peaceful protesters to enter into congressional buildings. Crowds are now gathering in front of the House and Senate offices, demanding that they be let in to air their constituent concerns.

Why do you think there is a Tea Party effort today? Do you think it’s because the Tea Party folks are out of touch and don’t realize the Republican party is championing their views before the nation?

Yes, we have seen some solidarity against this current bill. Big fricken deal. It’s the worst legislation in this nation’s history, and you’re bragging because this time the Republicans get it. Oh me oh my, we’re just being so unfair to the party members who haven’t gotten it for so long the public has had to form a movement to shame them into actually giving a damn.

Did the Republicans block the takeover of our universities? Do they demand political equity on campuses? What about our K-12th grade schools, are they demanding politics stay out of those schools? Have they defended our children against propaganda and the teachings of sexual deviancy to even the youngest of our children? Did they seek to address the issue of balance in media by licensure. Did they eliminate funding for NPR or PBS?

The Republicans are most notable over the last two decades for doing the best impression of a door mat, I have ever seen.

Your righteous indignation gets a sneer from here.

Thank you so much for the update!!! How I wish I could be there...please know I am in spirit with you all and in prayer.

Typical Yahoo news and the other lib outlets undermining the protest by reporting “a few thousand” and then the whining about being called names. The “n-word” it was said was yelled at black Democrat congressmen and Barney Franks had to get in on it too by being victimized when he was called “faggot” and “homo”. I personally think they were making this up to marginalize the entire Tea Party movement. I didn’t buy it and I don’t think any other sane, thinking people will either.

Be strong, keep the faith, go with God!

Republicans weren't a doormat. They didn't have a filibuster proof senate and still had the mainstream media against them. You say that there is a tea party? well that's the best thing that could happen --- but only to the Democrats and their goal of turning the U.S. into a socialist state.

Another party will divide the conservative vote between the tea party and the GOP which will make the democrat majority even greater and then democrats can turn the U.S. into the USSR, Cuba or North Korea. Then all Americans will be starving slaves as happened in all fully socialist countries. This is the media's goal.

You and your ilk are bashing Republicans at a time when it is democrats/Marxists who are performing a socialist/communist/marxist takeover of a free country America: Yet you don't even bash Democrats. Republicans are not socialists like democrats ARE and republicans never in 12 years tried to turn 1/6 of the economy over to the government. After 1994 republicans had a bare majority which they used to stop Clinton’s government healthcare.

But Republicans and Bush never had the filibuster proof senate so Democrats could block/filibuster any Republican legislation or any Bush supported legislation.

What we had for 12 years of the Republican bare majority and Bush years was for the most part gridlock which is not bad if we weren’t already in the hole democrats put us in the past 100 years before 1994. Before 1994 Democrats controlled congress for 60 years and the liberal media had a complete monopoly which democrats and the media used to grow this government , create mandatory spending programs , and put us in this mess which Republicans or Bush had nothing to do with but were saddled with.

GOP bashers and the media say: "why didn't Republicans cut this program with mandatory spending increases, or do this this or that or cut this or that". It's because Republicans never had a 60% of the Senate and so never had a fillibuster proof senate so that Democrats could block/filibuster anything.

So all these Bush and GOP bashing talking points are all lies , created by the liberal media. And they are meant to divide conservatives and they have. this is the media's goal to turn conservatives against the GOP and to divide conservatives . If conservatives do not unite behind the GOP then Democrats will keep winning and will complete the socialist/communist/marxist takeover of America which is the liberal mainstream media's goal. And "conservatives" who don't support the GOP and bash Republicans are Lenin's "useful idiots".

WTH?? Now we need permission to petition for a redress of our grievances standing still??

I have no idea what that rally permit nonsense was all about. The organizer said something about we had to keep moving. But we didn't once we got to the other side of the Capitol, we all stopped, and nobody bugged us.

Thousands of us were out there for hours, and as I mentioned in my after action report, several Congressmen came down to speak with us for quite awhile, led by Rep. Steve King of Iowa, who is a wild 'n crazy Tea Partier at heart... he was totally THRILLED by the crowd today... it was great!

Thanks for your kind words, Danae! :o)

There were people from all 50 states and foreign countries for the big 9/12/09 Tea Party, but there was FAR more time to plan for that one! This one was tough... even kind of a last-minute thing for us. (It takes us roughly 6 hours to get from Connecticut to DC by car)

One of the CONGRESSMEN said he COULD HEAR US from inside the Rotunda, which, he said, was EXTRAORDINARY. Another said he COULD HEAR US could hear us from his apartment, which was 4 blocks away from the Capitol.

Sounds like they heard the Mighty Voice of God! tsk tsk
What a wonderful assessment of the day and I’m thrilled you shared it....I am sending this to my friends. So they can hear about it too. Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!
