ObamaCare Vote Kickback Scheme
Bismarck Tribune ^ | March 19 2010 | ALAN FRAM and DAVID ESPO

WASHINGTON — Bye bye, Cornhusker Kickback. Hello, special treatment for Tennessee and North Dakota.

Democrats unveiling revisions Thursday to their health care overhaul bill decided to kill the extra $100 million in Medicaid funds for Nebraska that has become a symbol of backdoor deal making.

But the 153 pages of changes to the massive health care package include extra money for hospitals in Tennessee that serve large numbers of low-income patients. And though the bill would revamp the nation’s student loan system to make the government the only lender, one bank — the state-owned Bank of North Dakota — would be allowed to continue making student loans.

That provision ended up rubbing Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., the wrong way. Fearing it would become a target by Republicans in what he said is “an overly heated partisan environment,” he asked the House late Thursday to remove it from the legislation.

To help win the vote of Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., the massive measure the Senate passed on Christmas Eve had included $100 million that only Nebraska would get in added federal Medicaid assistance.

Immediately mocked as the Cornhusker Kickback, critics called it the epitome of special Washington dealing, and even Nelson advocated ending his state’s special treatment. Under the changes announced Thursday, the Nebraska provision would be deleted and all states would get additional Medicaid help from Washington.

Also eliminated from the Senate measure was a provision allowing about 800,000 elderly Floridians to keep enhanced Medicare benefits that are being cut for residents of other states.

Isn't this interesting . . . the Commiecrats (I no longer refer to them as Democrats) use bribes and kickbacks as an excuse to vote for ObamaCare, wait to see what the politcal fallout will be, and then if the taxpayers voice too much outrage one of their comrades will remove the quid pro quo payment and claim "no harm / no foul".

Nice attempt at CYA but you can't "unring" a bell. The damage has already been done. The Commiecrats know this but still believe we Americans are that stupid.

If anything this taxpayer funded vote buying scheme should tech us one thing . . . this November a vote for a Democrat is a vote for Socilism and the death of America as we now know it!

CBO releases [false] numbers- UNDER one trillion ($940 billion)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2473723/posts
Mark Levin interviewed a brilliant congressman — Pence if I recall? Pence is talking with the CBO. They are only allowed to process what junk the majority party places before them.

There’s another trillion dollars buried, delayed, and/or reshuffled [such as Doc-Fix]. Pence will be coming up with a more accurate picture. Further, it’s ten years of new taxes to fund only six years of reform.

Kill the Bill Mega Rally at the Capitol, noon Saturday until ???

Note the walking-distance metro stop. Park anywhere and ride the metro in.

Or drive around the Capitol and gridlock traffic while honking thousand of car horns.

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

‘Welcome to heaven,’ says St. Peter. ‘Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.’

‘No problem, just let me in,’ says the man.

‘Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.’

‘Really, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,’ says the senator.

‘I’m sorry, but we have our rules.’

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening Dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who
Has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

‘Now it’s time to visit heaven.’

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

‘Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.’

The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: ‘Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but
I think I would be better off in hell.’

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a
barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. ‘I don’t understand,’ stammers the senator. ‘Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.
What happened?’

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, ‘Yesterday we were campaigning.. .

Today you voted.’

Democrats unveiling revisions Thursday to their health care overhaul bill decided to kill the extra $100 million in Medicaid funds for Nebraska that has become a symbol of backdoor deal making.

According to our local news this morning, Chuck Shumer is working on a deal that would get NY 90% financing for their medicaid by 2014. It appears all the liberal state's will get a free ride in the end, and the conservative states are going to end up footing the cost of the massive Death Care Welfare bill.

I am assuming IF the House approves the bill it has to go back to the Senate, correct?

It is also proof that once they have your vote, a deal is expendable. This should be broadcast to every fence sitter and recent flip out there. "You WILL be screwed."

Can anyone explain this? As far as I understand it, the student loan bill passed the house; however, the Senate had still not voted on it. How can it become a law if the Senate still has not voted on it? Unless, this is a different student loan bill that passed the Senate that I was not aware of.

Either way, student loans have nothing to do with health care; and the entire thing is a farce.

If the Cornhusker deal is “out” does anyone know if Mutual of Omaha will still be exempt from the tax all other health insurance companies will have to pay?

I must say, for a bill from the Senate that they must vote on unaltered, there sure is a lot of negotiating new terms going on.

I saw it posted in a Craigslist political forum this morning and I thought it was worth posting here.

Of course one can say its nothing...

But who in the end will we answer to?

Heaven or Hell?

I truly hope in some way or fashion this is read by those voting for the Healthcare Reform.
