Hawaii may start ignoring repeated requests for proof that President Barack Obama was born on the islands.
Repeated requests to see President Barack Obama's birth certificate may fall on deaf ears after the House Judiciary Committee heard a bill permitting government officials to ignore people who won't give up.
So-called "birthers" claim Mr Obama is ineligible to be president because, they argue, he was actually born outside the United States, and therefore doesn't meet a constitutional requirement for being president.
"Sometimes we may be dealing with a cohort of people who believe lack of evidence is evidence of a conspiracy," said Lorrin Kim, from the Hawaii Department of Health.
Under Hawaii state law, the release of a birth certificate is prohibited for people who do not have a tangible interest.
Hawaii Health Director Dr Chiyome Fukino issued statements last year and in October 2008 saying that she had seen vital records that prove Mr Obama is a natural-born American citizen.
Mr Obama was born to a Kenyan father and an American mother.
But the state still gets between 10 and 20 emails seeking verification of Obama's birth each week, most of them from outside Hawaii.
Both Dr Fukino and the state registrar of vital statistics have verified that the Health Department holds Obama's original birth certificate.
Republican Cynthia Thielen said: "Do we really want to be known internationally as the legislature that blocked any inquiries into where President Obama was born?
"When people want to get more information, the way to fuel that fire is to say, 'We're now going to draw down a veil of secrecy."'
Nobody at the hearing questioned the fact that the president was born in Hawaii.

Sometimes a couple million dollars in taxpayer money to hide a $10 certificate is evidence of a conspiracy.
Why should the state of Hawaii protect 0bama? I have doubts about whether he actually was born there, but the state should not be stonewalling on producing an actual long form birth certificate. If a legitimate one exits, produce it.

Obama's advantage here is that we really don't know what he is hiding in this conspiracy. We know he's evil, anti-American, and a compulsive liar. What we don't know is whether he has a valid Hawaiian birth certificate and what it says if one exists. He might be hiding a non-citizen parent, his mother's marital status, or any of a number of other issues. Whatever he's afraid of, he thinks he gets enough mileage out of portraying his doubters as extreme or out of touch to outweigh the very limited damage that the cover up does with 90% of the media on the socialist's side.

1) She just made it a public issue by issuing a public statement.
2) Records with an "s" means there's more than just the one vault copy. IOW, there have been changes/amendments. What suddenly needed to be amended in '07?
3) Where in the Constitution does it say "natural-born American citizen? That must be a new animal because all I recall is native, naturalized, and natural born citizen.
4) She is not following HI rules and laws regarding this issue.
5) How many taxpayers' dollars is HI wasting in the cover up?
At the time of his birth his father was a British citizen as Kenya was still a colonial possession. Obama recieved British citizenship by virtue of his father's citizenship. Of course, your conclusion is still true - Obama cannot be a natural born citizen of the United States.

Deny the overwhelming number of request to see the cerificate?
How about just granting one request to see it. One request should be all that they needed to recieve.
Show it, and the requests will instantly cease. Sheesh. It’s not rocket surgery.
So indeed what is he hiding? Citizenship? Real parent’s names? Professed religion? No father listed? His listed name? What are the possibilities?
