Tom Hanks: Overcoming Racism Taking “Awfully Long Time” and Calls WWII a War of “Racism and Terror”
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 03/15/2010 9:50:51 AM PDT by Michael van der Galien

Can a sane friend or relative of actor Tom Hanks please tell him to stop talking? Seriously, what’s wrong with that guy? First he says that the U.S. wanted to “annihilate” the Japanese “because they were different,” now he adds, in a sad tone of voice, that it is taking his country “an awfully long time.”

“I’d like to think that as our time has gone by and as Americans have found themselves in 2010, ignorance is being replaced by a certain amount of enlightenment and racism is going to be replaced eventually by an acceptance,” said Hanks. “It’s just taking an awfully long time.”

“I’d like to think,” Tom? Is there any doubt in your mind that America has, for the largest part, overcome racism? A black man was voted into the White House, for God’s sake. What more proof do you need to understand that racism is, by large, a thing of the past?

As if the above quote isn’t bad enough, Hanks also reiterated his point that America was supposedly fighting a racist war against the Japanese:

In an exclusive interview with CNSNews.com, Hanks further explained–but stood by his statement–that the Pacific theater of World War II was a war of “racism and terror,” saying that he thinks America has made progress since then away from what he called “ignorance” and “racism.” (See video above and transcript below.)

Tom, couldn’t you have let Matt Damon be the most unpopular actor in America just for one week?

This is what can happen when people of very limited intelligence and education become famous from memorizing and repeating words written by others.

Really, Hanks? Compared to where else in the world? Where are all these racist free societies?? Oh, that's right, they don't exist.

Because you can pretend to be other people and do it very well, does not make one smart. People who can play parts are usually very shallow people. Not always, but more often than not. Hanks is a good actor. He is a piss poor philosopher or pundit.

Japan bombed us.
Japan invaded the Chinese city of Nanking and slaughtered 300,000 people.
Japan made captured Americans endure the Bataan Death March.

We weren't fighting them because we didn't like the Japanese race. There was a bit more to the story.

I’m sure the greater Filipino populace would disagree with Mr. Hanks.

Oh, how can I ever thank you, Tom, for your generosity in sharing your enlightenment with those of us who haven't had the benefits you have of being overpaid and treated like you're special for pretending to be people you're not.

Now GFY.

Clear ‘Pacific’ is a ‘racist’ program as all the bad guys are portrayed by Asians! Tom should have recast using WASP men as the enemy.

Really, what the hell is wrong with Hanks? He was just with Speilberg in a private party at the White House with Obama. In the lefty world of film, in order to stay in business in a leftist fascist state you have to toe the line. I don’t know how anyone with a brain could say what Hanks has said. But you see, if you are Speilberg or Hanks your favorite bad guys are Nazis— who in their world are right wing conservatives. In fact, Nazis were socialists who incorporated commies in their structure. They were labor leftists.
The true racists in WWII were the Japanese and Aryan Germans, who believed in eugenics and nationalized healthcare. What Hanks is showing is the ultimate end of a second generation FDR national socialist elitist. That and a sad stupid idiot. Finally they put out “Pacific” at the same time exhibiting their eurocentric ignorance of the Asian theatre of WWII which was far more difficult to win than Europe. Idiocy all around and also self serving pablum for the film press and promotion machine. Why doesn’t anyone do an Anti-Stalin film or one on the Holodomor?

Amen. My Filipino friends have stories about the Japs that are just horrible. And, they too have to deal with generational memory about this, as the commies keep trying to take over the Phillipines using Al-qaeda front groups.

You know, getting shot at by Imperial Japanese soldiers has a way of riling up a caucasian. Is Tom headed to Japan to moralize to them about treating Chinese, Phillipinas, Koreans, English, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Indians, Indonesians, Burmese, Singaporeans, Laotians, Australians, New Guienians, and Mongolians badly? Didn’t think so. Funny thing is, WWII was fought by us against two extremely racist states, yet we are the subject of his disapproval. Weird, the mind of an actor. Go figure.
