From the article: "Boehner predicted Sunday that, even though the GOP will be outspent by Dems in midterms elections, things are looking good for the Republican Party in the wake of the healthcare debate".

Is it not pathetic the the gutless representatives of the Republican Party place more emphasis on political gain rather that acting for the benefit of the citizenry and the welfare of our country? I intend to vote against every incumbant in future elections. Both political parties are corrupt. I stopped donating to the Republican party during the Clinton era or I would be even more angry at their wimpy attempts to represent me.

... absolutely pathetic...

I stated this on a previous post - I love to quote myself:

The problem that I see is that the radicals are trying to change America while the biggest force against them, the Republicans, are simply trying to stop them - “prevent defense” - they are not trying to do anything else. The Repubs have to push back- radically push back. For instance, get on a gold standard or some facsimile, rid us of the 16th amendment, balance the budget by amendment, arm every citizen (there is a social program for you LOL), go to a national sales tax, plug up the “promote the welfare” clause, etc.

Without this, I have to re-state our “beloved” Harry Reid - The war is lost.

The war is lost.

Yep. It's going to take massive changes in the way our gubmint operates to keep us from completely collapsing and taking most of the world economy down with us. I have very little faith that enough will be done to restructure our gubmint to stop it. I don't see how a massive crash is even avoidable at this point because nothing of any substance is going to be done until it's way too late for it to make a difference.

“Is it not pathetic the the gutless representatives of the Republican Party place more emphasis on political gain rather that acting for the benefit of the citizenry and the welfare of our country?”

It is pathetic that you make that claim when its not true.

It is pathetic that at a time when 100% of Republicans are in the right on this issue, and all the Dems are creating the worst bill in a generation - that you bash Republicans.

The outnumbered Republicans have done a good job standing up against the Democrat-media-liberal complex on this and other Obama agenda items.

If *you* care about the welfare of the country, *you* would have already called Congress and told them hands-off your healthcare and say “NO” to this bad tax-hiking, mandates, govt-controlled healthcare bill.

Code Red” - House Target List on Health Care

The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

Uh...I would say that we need some MAJOR political gain...and SOON.

That's what's got us into this mess...political LOSS.

Our Reps are doing a magnificent job of holding firm these days. They will deserve MAJOR kudos if this bill does not pass.

Obvious point - when you have only 41 Senators and 175 Congressmen, you have no other option. Obama ha the White House, the media and the Congress...

you say the “Repubs have to push back- radically push back” - Um, There is a roadmap by Paul Ryan that is more than just defense, but a path to fixing entitlements. Every idea you mentioned is out there, including many FAIR Tax republicans, etc. but ... THE PEOPLE has to do this and support it. How many people will vote for a Congressman who supports that agenda? That’s the key. UNless it gets over 218, there wont be the votes for that agenda.

CORRECT.

There are about 30-34 firm NO votes among Democrats just 4-5 more and the bill is dead.

There are probably about 30-40 Democrats on top of that who WANT to vote know but are getting arms twisted...

Paul Ryan is ambitious and apparently committed to the correct direction. But he wants a central government to solve the problem. For instance, “Elimination of the Corporate Income Tax”...great idea, keep going I say, but...

...then he turns around and offers a federal government solution of “Strengthening Federal Job Training Programs by Requiring Continual Improvement in Outcomes”. Instead of nanny-state he wants daddy-state government!?!

No keep the fed govmint out of e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.

Look at it this way - when the federal government does something “for the people”, an image should flash in front of your mind:

Family car, car keys, teenagers, bottle of whiskey.

Get it?

I believe there is strategy behind this also. By doing a roll call vote the reps cannot change there vote in case someone does not do what they promised behind close doors and this could cause a large problem for the dems. Thus she will not go for this I believe because it allows for no wiggle room.
