[BREAKING] JAPAN MAINSTREAM "NIKKEI" NEWS CALLS OBAMA CANCELLING ASIA TRIP (VIA TWITTER) "INSULTING"
Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Tokyo (Original in Japanese) ^ | 14 March 2010 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 03/13/2010 8:36:15 AM PST by AmericanInTokyo

The Japanese daily equivalent to the American "Wall Street Journal", the "Nihon Keizai Shimbun" (or "Nikkei" for short) has run a Japanaese language story just now reporting the slamming that Obama and Gibbs are getting for not only cancelling the Obama Asian trip, but in the rather crass, cavalier, informal and rude way it was apparantly gingerly announced (by Gibbs apparantly) through "Twitter".

Alludes in Japanese that this is insulting in an Asian context.

Original article (link provided to Japanese) is: 米大統領のアジア歴訪延期、「ツイッター発表」で波紋

Or my translation: "Obama's Asian Trip Postponement; (White House) Announcement Via 'Twitter' Causes Waves"

First, that idiotic Obama Imperial "bow" four months ago in Tokyo, now another abject slap across the face of critical Asia by official Washington D.C. (Obama Administration) by a bunch of absolutely useless and hopeless international, diplomatic OAFS.

The Japanese story (per link) is short but actually good. Slams Gibbs and their attitude, and also then, humorously so, gets into good detail for the Japanese people about Obama not being so wildly popular in the United States anymore.

No joke, this is the closing paragraph, written as if they are breaking the news to the Japanese slowly somehow that Icarus has fallen from the sky...which will surprise so many Japanese as they had this Obama out as a God for many months on end both in mainstream Japanese press and mainstream foreign press on which the Japan press often uncritically fed.

Folks, you cannot make this stuff up. They even mention right in the end that Barack Obama now seems to be avoiding the American Press, even more vigorously so than his predecessor, George W. Bush - due to Obama's plummeting public support. (Paraphrasing synopsis-wise in English from the original Japanese)

Thanks go to "Nikkei!" They are the ones reporting it...I am just passing on to FR.

The major Japanese conservative daily circulation SANKEI NEWS is going to pick it up too, soon, if D.C. bureau chief Yukihisa Komori is true to form. ;-) LOL Probably JIJI, Yomiuri, Fuji, NNN, they will all pile on so as to not be left behind.

Just watch.

I guess on his upcoming Asia trip, he will have to bow more deeply. In his sarong. Perhaps he should touch his lips to the floor in abject humility and submission.

He’s just alienating everyone now, isn’t he?

When Obama was elected, Europe fawned all over him. Lately, they haven’t. I think they figured out what a fraud he is. Too bad, more Americans haven’t.

Thanks for translating and posting this.

Obama was supposed to “make the world love us”, and instead he is alienating our friends and makes a laughing stock of the US to our enemies.

He TWITTERED his change in plans instead of having the ambassador to Japan personally deliver his change of itinerary? Jeez, I am an ignorant gaijin and even I know how insulting this is. It is worse than sending the Queen of England DVD’s as a present.

But the world is going to love us if we elect a bi-racial, 1/2 Christian/ 1/2 muslim socialist pig.

So glad you report on some of the foreign press, AIT. Most of our press, including some on Fox, still write as though they think the universe revolves around Obama.

They’d eventually find out that Obama despises Asians ~ something from his childhood no doubt.

Not just Europe. Lots of other countries, too, including, if I’m not mistaken, Japan.

I expected no less of this group so the Japanese should not be surprised either, but I’m glad they are calling them out on it.
