Losing In Fall OK With Democrats If It Means They Win Health Care
Investors.com ^ | March 5, 2010 | MARK STEYN

Posted on 03/05/2010 5:14:05 PM PST by Kaslin

So there was President Obama giving his bazillionth speech on health care, droning yet again that "now is the hour when we must seize the moment," the same moment he's been seizing every day of the week for the past year, only this time his genius photo-op guys thought it would look good to have him surrounded by men in white coats.

Why is he doing this? Why let "health" "care" "reform" stagger on like the rotting husk in a low-grade creature feature who refuses to stay dead no matter how many stakes you pound through his chest?

Because it's worth it. Big time. I've been saying in this space for two years that the governmentalization of health care is the fastest way to a permanent left-of-center political culture.

It redefines the relationship between the citizen and the state in fundamental ways that make limited government all but impossible.

In most of the rest of the Western world, there are still nominally "conservative" parties, and they even win elections occasionally, but not to any great effect. (Let's not forget that Jacques Chirac was, in French terms, a "conservative.") The result is a kind of two-party one-party state:

Right-of-center parties will once in a while be in office, but never in power, merely presiding over vast left-wing bureaucracies that cruise on regardless.

Republicans seem to have difficulty grasping this basic dynamic.

Less than three months ago, they were stunned at the way the Democrats managed to get 60 senators to vote for the health bill.

Then Scott Brown took them back down to 59, and Republicans were again stunned to find the Dems talking about ramming this thing into law through the parliamentary device of "reconciliation."

Once the commie ‘RATS take control of the healthcare system in this country and all of the administrators are SEIU thugs, how quickly do you think you’ll see a doctor if you fail to join their union and are not a registered DemocRAT? It’s going to get ugly.

Let them vote it in, go down in November.

Then repeal it. In full.

WE must seize the moment. We must get in touch with all our reps in our states, especially dems, and make it clear if they ever hope to be in the next congress, they better not vote for this. Plenty of good conservative challengers are announcing to run against democrats and rinos. Start putting a little $$ aside for 1 or a few people in your district or in other districts and make a difference - donate directly to the conservative candidates. Doesn’t matter how much. Maybe a small amount now, if they still stay solid and good, maybe again closer towards November.

But whatever you do, give directly to the candidates you want to support. Don’t go through RNC PACs. control your own donations. Help who you want to help.

I have believed all along that the Dims are on a suicide mission w/ this ObamaCare proposal. They know thw GOP won’t be able to reverse what they do now, ‘cuz even if the GOP takes control of both Houses of Congress next January, Obama will still be there to veto any changes they try to make. The Republicans won’t get the 2/3 majority in BOTH Houses that is needed to override the One’s vetoes. It’s as simple as that.

The Nation is telling these guys "NO". The Rats who vote for it are certain to be defeated. Yet, it still goes forward?

Talk about falling on their sword and committing Obamacide. Idiots.

Repeal not possible until a Republican is president. However a Pub congress could refuse to keep funding it.

However it’s done, this crap has to stop. I’m all for getting rid of everyone in Congress and starting over. It can be done...

You, and of course the inestimable Mr Steyn, are so right. Once this leviathan is passed, it’s here to stay. We have to make sure this DOES NOT pass, Rush is right, there will be no reconciliation and Pelosi does not have the votes.

Keep on calling and emailing, we can still stop this thing.

I don’t think the GOP has the guts to refuse funding of ObamaCare like you say, altho that’s an excellent idea. The MSM & the Dims will harrass them night & day about throwing grandma out on the street to die.

Besides, even if they were brave enough to do that, Zero would find some way, possibly by using Executive Orders or other means, to continue his agenda.

“Then repeal it. In full.”

If you think that 2/3 majority in both the House and Senate in November, you’re nuts!

Without 2/3 majority obama will just veto it!

Once it’s put into effect it will be there forever, just like Medicare, Social Security, Welfare, amd health care for the poor!

I think you are on to something. Support the party. Support the government or no health care. Your party card comrade...

The key line, at the end of the article: "Because government health care is not about health care, it's about government."

I can’t say for sure but I think your voter registration card and your union card are going to play a big part in ObamaCare. It’s just the way fascists have always done things.
